Chris Evans has been told told his testosterone levels are low and he's running on fumes due to a lack of sleep.

The Virgin Radio UK host was shocked when fitness guru Matt Roberts told him he was "just above the green light" with his hormones, and he should change his lifestyle before he "runs out of gas".

Matt was in the studio today  to deliver Chris, 53, and his co-host Vassos Alexander, 46, testosterone results from a test they'd previously taken.

Both results showed that the pair were suffering from very low levels of the hormone, which is crucial to build muscle mass, stay mentally strong, regulate hormones as well as for sexual function.

"You're just in range but at the lower end - you're not producing enough," Matt told Chris.

"What it means, basically, is you're running on fumes. You're both running around like crazy, you're working really hard and you're working out really hard.

"You're going to be running out of gas really quickly."

Chris is a recent dad to nine month old twins with his wife Natasha Shishmanian, 38, and has early starts with his radio show.

He ran the London Marathon in April and on top of that, he's also dedicated himself to launching a new fitness and music festival.

RunFestRun is billed as UK's 'Biggest Running Party" and takes place from Friday 31 May to Sunday 2 June this year, in the grounds of Bowood House in Wiltshire.

Taking this into account, Matt advised him to make some lifestyle changes - mainly, getting more kip.

"Look at what you both do for a living," he told Chris and Vassos. "You're up super early, you go to bed whenever you go to bed so your sleep patterns..."

"They're terrible terrible terrible," Chris interrupted.

Matt continued: "Lack of sleep - less than six hours per night - is the worst thing for your test levels, they fall off the chart. You're not producing enough because you're so tired out the whole time.

"[Make] small lifestyle changes, like changing your sleep patterns slightly or maybe have a nap in the afternoon - that's not an old man's thing to do, it's actually a young man's to catch up."
