McFly’s Harry Judd says band WILL reunite later this year for a new album – NINE years after the last one
MCFLY’S Harry Judd is confident that the band will reform - and will be disappointed if it doesn’t happen.
The popular British rock band will get back together after bassist Dougie Poynter, 31 revealed they would be reforming in 2019, nine years after their last album.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online at Cancer Research UK's sun safety event in partnership with NIVEA SUN, father-of-two Harry, 33 said: “I’m sure it will happen, I’m pretty confident it’s definitely going to happen, at some point in the near future. I'd be pretty disappointed if it didn't.”
It seems the band are already united over sharing parenting tips.
Harry, the father of Lola, three, and Kit, one, also revealed that he often shares tips with band mates Danny Jones, 33 and Tom Fletcher, 33 about the struggles of parenthood.
He said: “Yeah, we all do. We're all pretty open honest guys, so we all chat about it and yeah, just share our experiences, and every child is different though.
“So every child comes with its different challenges and every parent is different. Parents do things differently and I think it's important to let people do things that they feel are right.”
In the past, Harry has openly spoken about the struggles he has endured with his IVF battle, as well as bonding with his second child Kit.
The former Strictly Come Dancing winner thinks it’s normal to feel a range of emotions as a parent.
He added: “It’s just totally normal, now I couldn't be anymore annoyingly in love with my son.
“I guess all aspects of parenthood are important to talk about, in an honest way because it’s probably that whole British stiffer upper lip thing of like don't complain, just get on with it.”
The drummer believes parents should talk openly about their parenting experiences and stop comparing themselves to others.
“Just talking about it and going this happens, and don't worry if this happens and it's totally normal and it’s pretty tough, there's loads of positives, but here's a few things to be aware of, I think it’s just good to promote honesty and people talking openly,” he said.
The musician, who is starring in the West Ends ‘Rip It Up’, added: “Comparing yourself to others, it's a really dangerous path to go down but unfortunately we all do it because it's natural human instinct to compare and be jealous and want what we don't have.”
Harry revealed that when the band were touring, the boys discussed wanting a family, and Danny was the funniest out of the four to imagine being a dad.
“When we were younger, god we spent thousands and thousands of hours on tour buses, cars, planes, trains and dressing rooms just having conversations, and every now and again that conversation would come up, oh could you imagine when we have kids?
“We used to laugh about what our kids are going to be like; it was always particularly funny imagining Danny having children.”
McFly’s bassist Dougie Poynter, 31, is the only one of the four to not have children, but is the best at interacting with their kids.
“Dougie’s really sweet with the kids as well, because he can be socially awkward, a little bit, but he’s actually almost the best at interacting with kids, he's really sweet with them,” he added.
Harry has partnered with NIVEA SUN and Cancer Research UK to raise awareness around enjoying the sun safely. For more information, visit:
