Coronation Street’s Julia Goulding admits she didn’t have time to plan her own wedding due to ‘heavy workload’ after soap’s mass exodus
The Sun exclusively revealed that Coronation Street demands a heavy workload for its stars which is the reason behind a mass exodus
CORONATION Street's Julia Goulding has revealed her husband planned their wedding because she doesn't get a "moment's rest" playing Shona Ramsay on the Cobbles.
The Sun exclusively revealed that Corrie's heavy workload is the reason behind a mass exodus of its stars and Julia has admitted her schedule left her no time to plan her big day.
Asked about her dramatic year as cafe worker Shona, Julia. 33. said: "There's not really been a moment's rest, but that's just the way I like it.
"You can get your teeth really stuck in and even in quieter periods she's working in Roy's Rolls so it's nice to be in the hub of everything."
She added about her wedding to Ben: "I was very fortunate as well, as I was very busy at work so my husband did a lot of the planning with me."
It comes as Coronation Street insiders claimed stars are turning their backs on the show as the atmosphere on set is “at an all-time low.”
Katie McGlynn, 25, has become the sixth cast member to leave this year as the soap’s crisis deepens following boss Kate Oates’ departure.
The Sun can reveal many of the ITV programme’s cast are complaining behind-the-scenes about morale and cast and crew are looking for the exits.
A source said: “No one has been particularly happy since former show boss Kate Oates left.
“There are lots of scheduling issues and the workload has become very difficult to manage with six episodes a week.
“There are now lots of unhappy people who are jumping ship but many of them are ‘putting a spin on it’ publicly because they don’t want to upset their mates left trying to save the show.
“It’s not a great time to work on the show.”
Tristan Gemmill, Connie Hyde, Kym Marsh and Bhavna Limbachia have all publicly announced that they were quitting Coronation Street since the beginning of 2019.
Last month The Sun’s Bizarre TV column revealed how a “car crash” was developing behind-the-scenes over the cast and crew mutiny.
Katie, who has played Sinead Tinker on the cobbles since 2013, follows hot on the heels of Faye Brookes, who quit on Tuesday.
