Madonna dramatically falls backwards off stage to end epic Eurovision performance – but fans are divided
The 60-year-old icon thrilled fans with a sensational interval performance during last night's Eurovision
MADONNA ended last night's showstopping Eurovision performance by dramatically falling backwards off the stage.
The music icon divided fans with her epic interval appearance at the Tel Aviv event, where she performed classic hit Like A Prayer and new track Future with rapper Quavo.
As her segment came to an end, Madge and Quavo made their way up a giant staircase alongside their backing dancers.
Two-by-two the dancers elegantly fell backwards off the stage , and once the track finished the two stars held hands and did the same.
The move comes just over four years after Madonna accidentally fell off the stage at the 2015 Brit Awards.
The star was left red-faced when her cape got caught mid-routine - causing her to tumble to the ground in the live show.
Elsewhere in Madonna and Quavo's epic set conclusion, Eurovision organisers were left stunned when two of Madonna's backing dancers stood with their arms around each other while wearing Israeli and Palestinian flags.
The two took a moment to embrace before walking up the stairs for their stage fall, with the moment said to have been unrehearsed.
The moment appears to be Madonna's attempt to make a call for peace between Israel and Palestine, with her decision to perform in the city previously sparking debate among her fans.
Pro-Palestinian activists previously begged the star to reconsider her role as the superstar special guest while the Israeli-Palestinian crisis rumbles on.
Madonna started her Eurovision performance in a hooded robe as she belted out the first lyrics of Like A Prayer before descending the staircase.
The reinvention of her classic hit won praise from viewers, with several calling the performance "amazing" while others hoped Madonna could be crowned the winner of this year's Eurovision.
She was then joined by Quavo and they burst into a performance of Future
The superstar was surrounded by dancers wearing gas masks and horse costumes to create a dystopian environment.
She appeared to depict a dystopian futureCommenting on the performance, one fan wrote: "Madonna has still got it at 60. Amazing Like A Prayer... but not impressed with the new tune."
Another tweeted: "Did Madonna just fall off the stage again?"
A third viewer said: "What's with the pirate eyepatch, Madonna?
Robert Peston took a break from politics to give his verdict on Madonna's performance.
He tweeted: "Is it me or is Madonna horribly flat? Though camp Catholicism in Tel Aviv is special."
Another viewer put: "Madonna was mostly flat!! She needed a prayer to get in key."
The Netherlands were crowned the champions of the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest with a whopping 492 points.
Singer Duncan Laurence's win marks the first time that The Netherlands have been victorious at the Eurovision Song Contest since 1975.
However, there was heartbreak in store for the United Kingdom with entrant Michael Rice finishing in LAST place with just 16 points.
