GAME OF Thrones has teased fans with two new teaser pictures ahead of Sunday night's epic finale, with Tyrion Lannister seemingly preparing to face Daenerys Targaryen after committing treason.
Fans were left shocked in this week's episode of the show when Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) was holding his brother Jaime as prisoner, only for Tyrion to free him so that he could escape the battle with their sister, Cersei (Lena Headey).
Unfortunately for the Lannisters, Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) was unable to reach Cersei in time and the incestuous siblings actually ended up being crushed to death in each other's arms as Cersei's kingdom quite literally crumbled around her.
The first teaser image shows Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) looking weary and sheepish among the rubble of King's Landing, suggesting that he might be about to learn his fate after betraying Daenerys.
He was previously warned by his queen: "The next time you fail me will be the last time you fail me", which suggests that Tyrion is unlikely to make it out of the episode alive.
Tyrion may also be in a state of shock and regret having refused to listen to Varys' concerns about Daenery's state of mind - dropping his former pal in it and having him executed just moments before the Dragon Queen murdered thousands of innocent people in Tyrion's former home.
This week's Thrones instalment divided fans when years of foreshadowing came to a head as Daenerys went full "Mad Queen" on the people of King's Landing - continuing to use her dragon to burn people alive despite Cersei ringing the bells of surrender.
The episode marked the end of the road for several fan favourites, with Euron Greyjoy, The Hound, The Mountain, and Qyburn also meeting their maker in addition to Cersei, Jaime, and Varys.
But while Tyrion seems to be struggling to process the massacre that ensued at the hands of his queen, Daenarys appears to have zero regrets - with the second teaser photo showing her standing proudly in front of what remains of the Unsullied and Dothraki.
In a snap taken from behind, Dany's iconic blonde hair is ashy from smoke as she takes in her army and the destroyed city.
Both scenes were previously teased in the trailer for episode six, which also showed Jon and Ser Davos walking through the wreckage, with smoke seemingly still smouldering from the ruins.
Another clip showed Tyrion taking a moment to come to terms with what has happened to the Red Keep, meanwhile, Arya Stark looks hellbent on getting revenge on Dany as she watches the Khaleesi from the crowd.
Although fans have many theories surrounding the upcoming finale, Game of Thrones is famed for its shock twists and it is safe to say that anything can happen as the eight-series fantasy drama comes to an end.
Game of Thrones' finale will premiere on Sky Atlantic and Now TV at 2am on Monday 20th May to match the US air time.
It will be available to stream all day and will be broadcast again at 9pm on Sky Atlantic.
