GOGGLEBOX fans were left horrified this evening when Giles asked his wife Mary to dress up as a policewoman for his birthday.
The eccentric couple were watching Line Of Duty when Giles came up with the idea for Nutty (what he affectionately calls her), which they then discussed at length.
He asked her: “Would you ever consider dressing up as a female police woman?”
She turned to him and asked: “What for?”
He replied: “For my birthday!” before continuing: “When you go to London can you get a WPC oufit, especially with that nice cravat. I think it might suit you with a blouse.”
Not looking impressed, Mary told him: “It might make me mete out some punishment, which you wouldn’t have in mind.”
Giles responded: “I don’t want that sort of relationship. You can go to Soho for that sort of thing.”
Those watching at home couldn’t believe what they were watching and took to Twitter to discuss it.
One person wrote: “Omg Giles and Mary are getting kinky and it’s killing me #gogglebox.”
A second commented: “@C4Gogglebox really not sure I needed the mental image of Mrs Nutty meting out punishment to Giles dressed as a policewoman thanks #Gogglebox.”
While a third joked: "Next week: Mary appears dressed in her female police officer’s uniform and Giles wears his rubber gimp mask, dog collar and chain..... #gogglebox.”
The couple have appeared on the show since 2015 and have previously said being part of it saved their marriage.
Giles said: “Working together on Gogglebox – watching telly at the same time – meant Mary and I suddenly no longer lived like two intimate strangers.
“Mary working from 6am till 8pm, then falling asleep slightly drunk at 9pm; me gardening from 1pm till 3.30pm, when I have lunch, and then going to bed at two in the morning after watching vintage horror films. It has definitely saved our marriage.”
