What happened in episode two?

Jamie (Alfred Enoch) continues to be haunted with terrifying nightmares of somebody walking around the hospital but looking anything but normal.

They are bruised and covered in blood.

After Danny’s (Elliot Cooper) tragic passing, Dr. Watson (John Hannah) holds an important staff meeting that leaves Zoe (Katie Clarkson-Hill) triggered with a number of questions concerning the victim.

But instead of giving her a clear answer, Dr. Watson brushes Zoe off, telling her that a pathologist would provide her with all the information to clear up what transpired when Danny died in his hospital bed.

Zoe is later seen stitching up a pretty nasty wound that Jamie caused in episode one while using the crystal over his bed. In the process of mending the injury, Jamie feels safe enough to confide in her to mention his recent conversations with Danny.

Danny had informed Jamie in episode one that there was a killer on the loose, and it doesn’t seem to be a coincidence that he would end up losing his own life after passing this information over to McCain.

Zoe refuses to believe what Jamie’s words, going on to say that there was no such thing happening at the hospital.

During a conversation between Debbie (Ashley Jensen) and Dr. Watson, it is learned that Danny had apparently shared feelings concerning suicidal thoughts during his home visit.

Watson shows her a needle that was later found in his bed, in which he strongly insinuates that Danny killed himself through the help of drugs.

Jamie makes it known he no longer wants to take his medication, which Zoe is clearly against.

Jamie becomes very paranoid over his surroundings, having even refused to take his medication because they made him feel very sleepy. Zoe tries to talk him out of it but he simply refuses to cooperate, mentioning how he doesn’t trust anybody at the facility.

Watson asks pathologist Parveen for an update on Danny’s death as soon as he knows more information, to which he responds by saying that he was sure there’d be insulin found inside the needle at Danny’s bedside.

Later on, Jamie comes to the understanding that he’s being manipulated by Sergeant Ellen Ashurst (Katie Lyons) who threatens him after she grows suspicious over how Jamie actually injured himself, to begin with.

He refuses to tell her any information regarding his conversations with Danny.

Zoe, while talking to Alex (Richard Rankin), is baffled by the fact that he would simply brush off the recent deaths as something that just happens.

Jamie comes up with a plan to hide the medication he is instructed to take and instead hides them under the venus fly trap that Danny had gifted him.

He ends up working out the password for the iPad to be TARDIS but the technological gadget ends up running out of battery at the very same time.

A nearby patient has a charger that Jamie knows would work for the iPad. He rushes over but is escorted back to his bed by another nurse, who wheels him back to his station.

It’s not until the next morning that the patient throws the charger over to him and Jamie gets the chance to gain access to the data on the device. But, of course, he gets interrupted by Debbie who was scheduled to help him rebuild his muscles.

Jamie has a panic attack and help is called immediately.

Viewers later see Jamie back in bed and this time he’s talking to Zoe, who tells him that he can trust her. So he confides in her about the information regarding the iPad and how Danny’s data needs to be investigated. She agrees to handle it for Jamie.

Jamie is then introduced to Danny’s mother but only because he purposely dropped something to get her attention. She doesn’t seem to be in a talkative mood and, on top of that, she didn’t receive much information regarding her son’s death from Dr. Watson either.

Zoe and Dr. Watson discuss Jamie’s concerns for Danny, but the doctor seems adamant that Danny’s cause of death was simply a tragic insulin overdose.

Believing Jamie more than ever before, Zoe heads home and takes a look through the iPad, unsure of what she was going to find while looking through its data.

Jamie suffers yet another panic attack and abruptly asks Dr. Karimi on an explanation to Danny’s death, but, similar to Dr. Watson, the response was anything Jamie was looking to hear. He doesn’t believe that Danny suffered a drug overdose.

Determined to get to the truth of things, Zoe waits for a woman to leave the reception so that she can sneak herself in and obtain patient records. He doesn’t hesitate to quickly print out a bunch of files related to what she was looking for.

Though she gets caught, Zoe saves herself with a quick lie.

Debbie tries to rebuild Jamie’s muscle in the gym, where he goes on to have odd visions of a battered man in a wheelchair with blood on the floor. Jamie brushes it off knowing he’s just seeing things.

He has little to no luck in getting his muscles to respond to the actions he wants them to do, despite Debbie’s strong words of encouragement, which only begins to frustrate him.

As he returns to his bed, Jamie is greeted by his mother and they have a very uncomfortable conversation because he had never even told her that he was in the hospital, to begin with. Jamie demands immediate answers.

Dr. Watson is then seen receiving a voicemail from pathology concerning Zoe’s decision to access patient files without consent. In the same moment, Jamie is told by Zoe that she completely believes his story regarding all the victims who died from the same thing.

Dr. Watson finds video footage of Zoe stealing drugs, which is most likely going to be used against her. He then comes down the elevator and gives Jamie an evil stare as the episode concludes.

Five Best Moments

Jamie has a new friend in Zoe

She seemed too reserved to believe that what Jamie had said about Danny could be true at the beginning of episode two.

But what transpired appeared to be quite the strong union between Zoe and Jamie - now that Danny was gone, at least he has Zoe to help him find answers to the mysterious deaths.

Zoe takes it upon herself to assist Jamie with his plot, showing signs that she's just as invested into finding out the truth as she is.

Jamie has a distant family relationship

While we haven't explored all that much about Jamie's family, seeing his mother in this episode and his reaction to her being there seemed very extreme.

He obviously wasn't happy about her arrival, nor that someone had told her he was in the facility, to begin with.

Fans, via social media, also seemed to believe that there's more to the relationship Jamie shares with his family and later episodes could potentially explore that narrative.

"The way Jamie reaction to his mum being in hospital to visit him was so dramatic, there's gotta be something behind his outburst like that," one fan wrote on Twitter.

Jamie (finally) gains access to the iPad

The end of episode one ended on a cliffhanger, given that we didn't know whether or not Jamie was going to be able to gain access to Dany's locked iPad.

How could he possibly know the password to someone else's gadget?

But he does, which seemed rather surprising but as a viewer, you feel happy for Jamie, who has clearly been through a lot.

He hands the iPad to Zoe to investigate the data further, and she doesn't hesitate for one second that Jamie is telling the truth after what she finds.

Dr. Watson certainly has something to hide

While it's not hard to believe that Dr. Watson would be hiding vital information in Danny's case of death, it seems that the BBC series will explore the doctor's personal background as the show continues.

At the end of episode two, when Jamie is given a nasty stare from Dr. Watson, it seems he knows people are suspecting that something suspicious is going on.

But big of an impact does Dr. Watson have over what's been going on?

Jamie certainly doesn't seem like he's going to give up from trying to get more information out of the people around him. But it already seems like he's well aware everything will link back to Dr. Watson.

Jamie uses alternative ways to get what he wants

Not to say that Jamie was ever clueless, but there's no denying that this character has fully developed into a real spy.

Maybe not that extreme, but enough to say that he's found clever ways to get what he needs. Especially if it provides him further information.

He hides his medication from the staff in episode two and also managed to get close to Danny's mother in the hopes of finding out something that could lead him closer to solving what's been going on.

Jamie has proven to be a clever-thinking individual and that's most likely something that viewers will see more of as the series progresses.
