Model Helena Christensen is at war with journalist Alexandra Shulman after a jibe about the 50-year-old model’s ‘tacky’ bustier
Alexandra Shulman tore into the model over her appearance at Gigi Hadid's birthday
HELENA Christensen has hit back at a former Vogue editor who called her “past it” and “tacky” for wearing a bustier aged 50.
The Danish supermodel wore the sheer black bodice and jeans to Gigi Hadid’s denim-themed 24th birthday party.
But journalist Alexandra Shulman tore into the star after seeing snaps from last week’s bash in New York.
The former editor of British Vogue said: “It’s possible that she just panicked when faced with a themed party (this was denim) and thought that turning up as the madam in a one-horse town would fit the bill.”
“But it’s more likely that she did it to show she’s not past it.”
She also said Helena should “call time on Ann Summers style” and added: “Something you wore at 30 will never look the same on you 20 years later. Clothes don’t lie.”
In response, the model posted a picture on Instagram of herself in a similar top and said: “Let’s continue to elevate and support each other, all you beautiful, smart, fun, sexy, hardworking, talented, nurturing women out there.”
She completed the post with the hashtag #oopssheworeabustieragain.
Helena’s A-list pals also leapt to her defence with fellow supermodel Naomi Campbell scolding Shulman for her “cheap shot”.
Canadian model Linda Evangelista, 53, added: “She should be ashamed of herself. You are a goddess.”

Insiders at the magazine described the comments as “mortifying”.
A source added: “Everyone is in disbelief that an ex-Vogue editor would be saying things like this.”
And Edward Enninful, 47 — Shulman’s successor at Vogue — is also said to be furious at the criticism of Helena’s outfit. He called her “beautiful inside and out.”
Shulman attempted to backtrack on Instagram last night, saying: “I think Helena is absolutely wonderful. I just didn’t think the corset was a good look.”
