Sex Tape returns to Channel 4 TONIGHT – here’s why the show is so controversial and how it works
SEX Tape is one of Channel 4's most controversial shows EVER - with a group of couples hoping to spice up their sex life.
So, when is the show next on TV and how does the format work?
When is Sex Tape on?
Sex Tape is back on TV TONIGHT (May 10, 2019) for episode three.
You can catch all the action at 10pm on Channel 4.
If you happen to miss any episodes from the controversial series, you can always catch it again on .
The final episode is on next Friday, May 17 at the later time of 11.05pm
How does Sex Tape work?
While it’s easy to assume that the show would simply focus on people having sex as its narrative, that’s not necessarily true.
The series follows three different “struggling” couples each week who agree to have cameras rigged throughout their homes.
Apparently, there’s absolutely nothing that Channel 4 wants to hold back on with this new concept.
The ups and downs - along with the intimate moments - are all recorded for the four-part miniseries.
The three couples share their sex tapes with each other under the watchful eye of a relationship therapist.
The premise is that "they can gain a new perspective on their relationship".
By the end of each episode, the show will have either helped bring a couple closer in all aspects of their relationship (not just in the bedroom), or they come to agree that parting ways could quite possibly be the best option.
Why is Sex Tape so controversial?
The show has certainly got a big reaction from shocked viewers.
In one episode one woman called Sabrina admitted to wanting her boyfriend to "strange her" during sex.
After watching their sex tape alongside three other couples Sabrina was asked what she would like to happen in the bedroom, and she replied: “I like it when Mike is on top of me strangling me a little bit, I like to feel that he's like heavy or strong."
One contestant revealed how he was initially freaked out by the idea of watching another couple having sex - presumably because they are watching it with you.
“At first I thought it was going to be awkward to be watching the other couples have sex,” one participant revealed. “But then I thought, everyone has sex.”

Has this type of show been done before?
The concept of the show is definitely a first, although programmes about couples having sex have been on telly before.
Channel 4 previously aired Sex Box, where couples discuss their feelings about their love life after having sex.
They also recently broadcast Seven Year Switch, which was billed as Wife Swap meets Love Island.
It saw four couples at relationship crossroads live with a stranger for two weeks to help determine if different traits and characteristics in a mate could help strengthen his or her marriage.
And BBC had Sex on the Couch where couples laid bare their most intimate secrets.
