Fans are wondering what could be next for the Avengers franchise
SINCE 2012, Marvel fans have flocked to cinemas to watch the Avengers prevent evil from enslaving humanity.
But the seven-year journey appears to come to an end with Endgame, as the elite superheroes team up one last time as a group to not only fight Thanos but also obtain the six Infinity Gems. So, what’s next for the Avengers franchise? Let’s find out...
Will there be another Avengers after Endgame?
It currently remains unclear whether or not there could potentially be another Avengers movie in the foreseeable future, and that’s merely over the tragedy that happens in (without giving away spoilers).
What was clear before Endgame even went into production was that attempting to defeat Thanos would be the last phase of the Avengers franchise.
And fans are well aware that the only projects Marvel is looking to work on right now is the forthcoming Black Widow prequel, starring Scarlett Johansson, Black Panther 2, Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Shang-Chi, Doctor Strange 2, and The Eternals.
Spider-Man: Far From Home will lead when it debuts in cinemas 3 July 2019.
Furthermore, it is also understood that contracts for several leading cast members have come to an end with the completion of the fourth installment.
It’s too early to tell where Marvel wants to take the Avengers next - but from what’s been gathered, it would seem that the firm will look into building a new lineup of superhero film… IF that was even a consideration of theirs.
When discussing how hard it’s been for her to keep the plot of Endgame a secret for as much as possible, Johansson joked that after concluding the film’s press tour.
"I mean, honestly, it is so stressful. At the end of every day, I lie awake at night and I think about all the things I almost said. It gives me panic."
Having played Captain America for a whopping 10 films, it was just in October when Chris Evans seemed to have hinted that he was departing from the superhero franchise.
After having wrapped shooting scenes for Endgame that very same month, Evans had taken to Twitter to tell his fans some rather unsettling news.
“Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. It was an emotional day to say the least,” he shared.
“Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.
And with the news that Robert Downey Jr. could also be exiting the Marvel franchise, during his press run for the movie, the Hollywood star noted that the last eight minutes of Endgame is bound to make fans feel satisfied with the conclusion to the fourth installment.
"The last eight minutes of that movie was maybe the best eight minutes in the entire history of the whole run of them in a way...because everyone's involved. So I was delighted.”
Joe Russo - who directed Endgame with his brother Anthony, too much information during the film’s Indian press tour.
Having seen how fast the internet erupted with spoilers the minute Infinity War entered cinemas, Joe simply urges fans to see it during its opening weekend to avoid disappointment when coming across social media memes regarding the movie’s plot on social media.
“If you’ve been following along with this narrative for 10 years, you’re going to want to protect yourself. It’s best to go in clean,” he shared.
“I encourage people to go opening weekend because I’m sure everything is going to hit the internet the moment the movie hits the screen.”
