Adele, 30, and husband Simon Konecki, 45, split after ‘living separate lives for years’

MUSIC superstar Adele has separated from her charity boss husband Simon Konecki.

The shock split comes after years of rumours the pair’s marriage was on the rocks.

This morning the star’s spokesman confirmed: “Adele and her partner have separated.

“They are committed to raising their son together lovingly.

“As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.”

The statement comes after recent talk that the pair were living separate lives.

A source told us: “This is a very sad situation - Adele and Simon had been living separate lives for some time.

“It was well known amongst their friends that this time they simply were not going to sort it out.

“They had been trying for years but eventually you have to accept that something just isn’t going to work.”

Adele has been supported through the heartbreak by close friends, including US actress Jennifer Lawrence.

In 2014, The Sun on Sunday revealed that the couple were not longer living together and had hardly seen each other in eight weeks.

But the Someone Like You singer - whose most famous songs are about heartbreak - was able to patch things up and the pair later married.

Adele, 30, is believed to spending significant time in the New York while Simon, 45, has remained in the UK.

The couple have been quietly working behind-the-scenes to split their property and business interests.

The Hello singer met Simon after the pair were allegedly introduced by mutual pal Ed Sheeran in 2011 and were first spotted together in January 2012.

Their son, Angelo, was born later that year.

On their first outing as a couple they were snapped holidaying in Florida where they enjoyed alligator-spotting together.

Adele was determined to stay single having told Vogue magazine that year that she gets distracted when she has someone in her life - but she and Simon hit it off.

The pair reportedly wed at their £10million Los Angeles mansion just after Christmas in 2017, with the award-winning singer seemingly confirming their nuptials at the Grammys.

In January 2018 Adele organised Alan Carr’s wedding to Paul Drayton and even let the couple hold the ceremony in her and Simon’s garden.

Simon was married to stylist Clary Fisher from 2004 to 2008 and they have a daughter, now eight years old.

Rumours were rife that he was divorcing his wife while dating Adele and she was the reason for the split.

But in 2012, the usually-private singer confirmed in a blog post on her website that Simon was very much divorced and had been for four years.
