Who is Nathalie Emmanuel? West End star who plays Missandei in Game of Thrones
GAME Of Thrones fans have been eagerly awaiting the eighth final series of the infamous fantasy drama, which is unfortunately coming to an end TONIGHT.
Nathalie Emmanuel returned to our screens for the final season as Missandei follows Daenerys Targarien into war.
Who is Nathalie Emmanuel and what did she do before Game of Thrones?
Nathalie is a british actress who grew up in Southend, Essex. She begun her acting career at a young age, as she played young Nala in the West End production of Lion King, at age 10.
Her first on screen role was as Sasha Valentine in Channel 4's Hollyoaks. However after leaving the soap in 2010, she found herself struggling to make ends meet.
It was while she was working on the tills in Hollister that she got the life changing call from HBO.
She told The Sun: “I literally was working in a clothes shop when I got the message about the audition. I was miserable in that job, if I’m honest.
“Then I was like ‘this part’s mine, I need to get this part.’ And I don’t ever say that, I never say ‘I’ve got to get this part, or I need this or I want this’.”
She won the role and moved to Hollywood, joining not one but two of the world's biggest franchies, as she gained a part in Fast and Furious 7 in 2015.
Who is her character Missandei? (spoilers ahead)
For the last six years she has played Missandei in Game of Thrones - advisor and handmaiden to Daenerys
Missandei was introduced in Season 3, acting as an interpreter between the masters of Astapor and the Mother of Dragons.
Danenerys bought the Unsullied to join her army, in exchange for one of her dragons but also asked for Missandei as a token of good will.
Missandei follows Daenerys and their relationship develops into a friendship.
Missandei speaks no less than 19 languages and it is through teaching the leader of the Unsullied 'Grey Worm' the common tongue, a romance blossoms in Season 7.
This is complicated by Grey Worm's brutal training from infancy which has left him castrated and lacking a sense of his own humanity.
It is yet to be seen if there will be a happy ending for these two , as Missandei remains by her Queen's side and Grey Worm is sent off to fight her wars.
Season 7 ends with Missandei sailing to White Harbour, as Jon Snow and Danerys join forces to defeat the Night King.
