MEL B’s claim she had a lesbian fling with Geri Horner came as shock to most Spice Girls fans.
But to the hardcore following who read Mel’s first memoir in 2002, the hook-up would have been less surprising.
In the autobiography, Mel said the pair were “like boyfriend and girlfriend” who used to sneak out for naughty nights out, raiding Victoria Beckham's wardrobe for style ideas.
They would also get naked together – even behind the wheel.
Describing one particular motorway incident, Mel said: “Sometimes Geri and I went to bed on Saturday afternoon, woke up around 2am, got dressed up and went to the all-nighter at Ministry Of Sound.
“We used to drive down the motorway with our boobs out for a laugh.
“It was hysterical until we noticed a weird-looking guy driving alongside us with a manic grin on his face.
“Oh my God, Geri, he looks like he is w****r.
“Suddenly we were scared . It was really frightening. For all we knew he was a complete nutter with an axe.
“Geri swerved into another lane and eventually we lost him. We were really shaken. Did it stop us flashing our boobs? No.”
Thankfully the pair kept their clothes on while riding the iconic Union Jack bus featured in the Spice World movie.
Otherwise the PG rating may have been tweaked.

LILY Collins looked anything but Les Miserables as she beamed in this chic floral dress in New York.
Lily, who plays downtrodden Fantine in the TV adaptation of the stage show, is promoting its US launch.
She later posed alongside co-stars David Oyelowo and Dominic West at the premiere.
In the BBC series, Fantine changes from a beautiful, naive teen to a sickly single mum who turns to prostitution.
Of her character, Lily said: “ To go from long hair to no hair, no two front teeth, sickly.
“To go through that in such a relatively short amount of time was a draw.”

LATIN songstress Gloria Estefan has come out as a fan of our food.
She said: “I just discovered bread sauce, where were they hiding it? British food is phenomenal. I love steak and kidney pie. I dug into that bread sauce and I looked up how to make it. I’m making it at Thanksgiving for my family in Miami.”
Gloria was at the London Coliseum theatre yesterday to launch her musical On Your Feet, opening on June 14, which tells her love story with husband Emilio.
She added: “I guarantee, grown men break down in tears during the show. My favourite thing is to watch it happen from the back of the auditorium.”

AT the height of Britpop Blur's Damon Albarn said taking heroin made him “incredibly productive” musically.
But now the singer has ditched drugs for meditation and yoga to help him deal with anxiety.
He said: “Meditation is really holistic for the whole body. They should teach it in primary schools.
“There is such an epidemic in anxiety now, it seems. Having been someone who has taken many different ways of conquering anxiety over the years, this is definitely the best one.”
Speaking to Radio 6’s Gemma Cairney, he added: “I started yoga for posture, then I realised it was really difficult and I didn’t have to do anything else if I did that all the time.”

FLEETWOOD Mac have ended their North American tour early after singer Stevie Nicks got flu.
They have axed a date in in New Orleans on May 2 and are rescheduling their other six shows for October and November.

- BARBRA Streisand will reunite with her co-star from the 1976 film A Star Is Born when she performs at Barclaycard’s British Summer Time Hyde Park in London on July 7. Kris Kristofferson, who played her love interest in the film, will be a support act for her first show in the UK in six years, along with Bryan Ferry.
- ONE of the most unlikely collaborations in history may have been recorded this week. American rapper Future revealed he had been in the studio with Sir Elton John during a trip to the UK. - R Kelly’s first post-jail performance was a damp squib. The controversial singer, jailed over child support debt, made a personal appearance at Dirty South Lounge, Illinois, in the US in the early hours of Sunday, taking selfies with people and smoking cigars. But he sang for only 28 seconds before the venue closed at 3am and he was forced off stage.
- LEWIS Capaldi has a bone to pick with Little Mix after they blanked him. He had tweeted that he wanted their single Touch played at his funeral. On Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp, he said: “They tweeted me saying ‘Let’s make a Touch part-two collaboration happen’ then they never got back to me. I’ve been ghosted by all four members of Little Mix.”
