The actress tweeted: ' I wish people would not label me a soap actress, it's very frustrating'
PRECIOUS actress Michelle Collins has demanded she is no longer referred to as a “soap actress” - despite playing iconic EastEnders character Cindy Beale for a decade and the landlady of the Rovers Return in Corrie.
The TV star, 57, has struggled for jobs since leaving the ITV soap in 2014 and was last seen on Channel 5 reality show Celebrity 5 Go Camping.
She tweeted: “I wish people would not label me a soap actress it’s very frustrating indeed.”
Michelle has complained how difficult it is as a working class actress of in her fifties to find work.
She said: “It is tougher for women of a certain age. And so you have to broaden your horizons a little bit.
Things are getting better but they need to change a lot.

“I think the prejudice isn’t just gender. The prejudice is class in our society. It does make me laugh. It seems to be all posh people on the telly.”
Michelle’s iconic EastEnders character Cindy died in labour in 1998.
