Line Of Duty’s married Martin Compston forced to deny messaging women on Instagram as he reveals fake account is fooling fans

He is speaking out after someone starting impersonating him on Twitter and messaging his female followers

LINE OF Duty's Martin Compston has been forced to deny messaging women on Instagram after someone launched a fake account in his name.

The married actor - who plays Anti-Corruption Unit Detective Sergeant Steve Arnott in the BBC crime drama - says a catfish has been fooling female fans into thinking they're chatting to him.

The star, who wed Tianna Chanel Flynn in 2016, posted a screenshot of the Instagram account that was claiming to be his 'official' feed.

And he wrote: "Hey troops this stuff is usually harmless but this fake account apparently been messaging a lot of my female followers for details.

"Obviously not me thanks for people getting in touch to give me a heads up!"

It comes after The Sun on Sunday revealed show bosses sacked a senior production worker over his sleazy behaviour following complaints from Vicky McClure and other leading stars.

The “creepy” boss was dismissed midway through filming the latest series of the hit BBC One drama after various cast reported him to executives.

A source said: “It really is a case of life imitating art.

"There was a guy on set and his behaviour was troubling everyone, including Vicky.

“He was making lewd, inappropriate, slightly creepy comments to women in particular, and just rubbing everyone up the wrong way.

“A couple of the newer cast members were especially disturbed and had a word with Vicky and Martin Compston who are integral, long-standing members of the Line of Duty family.

“Simply put, they won’t stand for bad behaviour.

“They were brilliant, really compassionate and constructive in their advice and, crucially, set the wheels in motion.

“Obviously, in this day and age, welfare of cast and crew is paramount.

"Production company bosses refused to take any chances, and he was dismissed before the show was fully filmed.

“It was a huge relief to everyone, and made for a much happier working environment.

“Vicky and Martin are heroes on and off set.”
