AC-12's much-loved supremo has been coming under increasing suspicion in the first episode of the new series
LINE Of Duty fans have been left terrified that cop-catching 'good guy' Ted Hastings is the mysterious 'H' masterminding a criminal empire.
The much-loved officer - who uttered his immortal catchphrase "Holy Mother of God" within the first moments of the show - has come under increasing suspicion.
The superintendent, who is boss of anti-corruption unit AC-12, has been behaving in a shady manner is every scene he appeared in.
He has been repeatedly insisting that dead police boss Derek Hilton was the 'H' who has been pulling the strings - and even threw a pub trip to celebrate.
But Ted fans have been left fearing the worst, with one writing: "I’m not sure how I’ll cope if Ted Hastings turns out to be a bad guy."
Another worried: "This has to be a red herring, Hilton won't be H."
One other Line Of Duty viewer worried: "Wow isn’t Ted being a bit shady?"
Another said: "All I need from the latest #lineofduty is for Ted not to be bent. These are difficult times. Give me Ted."
A fifth wailed: "Uncle Ted can't be bent, we've lost too much already."
Others didn't know who to suspect, writing: "Is Ted dodgy??! Please don’t make Ted dodgy... that weird policewoman is dodgy. Which is what they want us to think."
They reasoned: "So maybe she isn’t. Which means she probs is..... oh god..."
Another summed up the thoughts of a nation, writing: "I really hope ‘H’ doesn’t turn out to be Ted 😩🙏🏻."
However, there were plenty of hints that Ted is in trouble.
A computer screen at the budget hotel he's been staying in showed he hadn't paid his bill.
Say it ain't so, Ted.
