Coronation Street fans won’t find out who was behind factory collapse for MONTHS – despite Carla’s arrest next week
Viewers of the ITV soap have been gripped by the harrowing storyline, which killed Rana Habeeb on her wedding day
CORONATION Street viewers will have to wait to find out who was behind the fatal factory collapse for months – despite Carla Connor's arrest next week.
Fans of the popular ITV soap have been gripped by the harrowing storyline, which killed Rana Habeeb on her wedding day.
Although a number of characters are under suspicion, including Nick Tilsley, Gary Windass, and Robert Preston, viewers will have to show their patience as the culprit will remain unclear for another couple of months.
This Morning's Sharon Marshall told Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on yesterday's show: "We are not going to find out who was behind it and who this villain is for ages, and ages, and ages.
"So we're gonna be playing a guessing game for quite a few months now. Probably timing it around a major award ceremony..."
Pushing the soap queen on a date, Phillip asked if the big reveal would happen before the British Soap Awards 2019, which takes place in May or June.
Responding, she said: "Exactly, I guess it might be around then."
Meanwhile, Carla is left devastated in Coronation Street next week when she’s arrested for Gross Negligence Manslaughter after the factory collapse that killed Rana.
And even more shocking, it's Carla's own half-sister Kate Connor, who turns the Underworld boss into the cops.
Carla – played by Ali King in the ITV soap - is unable to cope with her guilt over Rana’s death when the nurse’s brother Imran overhears Peter Barlow asking Roy Cropper to go easy on Carla.
Certain she’s hiding something about the tragedy, Imran – Charlie de Melo - confronts Carla and Kate leaps to her defence saying there’s no way she knew anything about the roof being unsafe.
Later, Peter is horrified when Carla tells him the guilt is eating her up and she’s going to confess to Kate.
At Rana's memorial, the guilt gets to Carla once again when Kate – Faye Brookes - grips her hand as she gives an emotional speech.
Robert Preston is watching on bitterly and quickly points the finger at Carla, demanding in front of everyone that she tells the truth.
Buckling under the pressure Carla breaks down and admits to the stunned crowd that she knew there was a problem with the roof, but had no idea it would collapse.
She hits rock bottom and Peter tries his best to comfort her, before begging Kate not to report Carla to the police.
