The Walking Dead season 9 spoilers: The Whisperers’ Alpha decapitates TEN survivors and displays their heads on pikes in show’s most gory scenes yet

FANS of the The Walking Dead are set to witness the show's goriest scene yet as The Whisperers' Alpha decapitates TEN of the survivors and displays their reanimated heads on pikes.

In the penultimate episode titled The Calm Before, Daryl, played by Norman Reedus, is left stunned alongside survivors Michonne, Carol and Yumiko as they see their friends mutilated bodies infront of them.

Viewers of the long-running comic book series will be left shocked when they learn that series regulars Tara, Enid and Carol's adopted son Henry have suffered a violent end.

Not the only causalities in the massacre, other characters to suffer the same fate include Alexandrians DJ and Frankie, Hilltop member Tammy Rose, teenagers Addy and Rodney, and Highwaymen Ozzy and Alek.

The Whisperers' Alpha's gory cull is sure to send out a clear message to the survivors to not cross the new border, marked by the pikes, or else face her wrath and even more walkers.

Her fury-filled revenge comes after her daughter Lydia fled the merciless group with Henry, Daryl, and Connie earlier this season.

Last week, the show's official Twitter page posted a snap from Game Of Thrones' brutal Red Wedding episode, teasing a very violent ending to series nine.

Fans of the TV smash will instantly have recognised the still as it shows the evil Walder Grey - played by David Bradley - during the infamous scene.

Now deemed one of the most brutal moments in TV history, the Red Wedding saw three members of the Stark family - one of whom was pregnant - barbarically murdered after being lured into a trap.

The Walking Dead captioned the snap: "Just going to leave this here."

Fans of the show will know it's certainly no strange to gruesome and disturbing scenes.

Viewers will remember the way Negan smashed Abraham and Glenn's skulls with his barbed wire - wrapped baseball bat, Lucille.

Then there was the time Rick Grimes tore a man's throat out with his teeth after the sicko and his evil sidekicks attempted to rape his son Carl.

There have also been many vomit-inducing moments in which zombies rip their helpless victims' insides out.

Earlier this year The Walking Dead boss Angela Kang said that the survivors would be "going to the festival".

In Robert Kirkman's comics, the festival winds up being trap where Whisperers leaders Alpha kills many of Rick's allies - including Rosita and Ezekiel.
