The Towie star says he's supporting grieving Megan, who is 'still in shock' following her ex's death
PETE Wicks has told how he's supporting his former girlfriend Megan McKenna after the shock death of her ex, Mike Thalassitis.
The Towie star, who dated Megan on and off for a year and a half, said his former flame is still “in shock” after Mike, 26, took his own life.
“Everyone always saw me and Megan as being a nightmare and toxic, which in a relationship we were. But she’s a lovely person. I might not be the best boyfriend but I’m a good friend. Whatever she needs, I’m there.”
Pete and Megan were in a volatile relationship from 2016-2017. Megan went on to date Mike for seven months, but their romance broke down in July.
Megan then signed up to Celebs Go Dating at the same time as and after a bitter start, the pair recently patched things up.
In the season finale, which was shown last week but filmed prior to Mike's death, fans were in tears when the exes had an emotional heart-to-heart in which they concluded they were now "good friends".
Love Island star Mike was discovered hanged in the woods near his North London home amid claims of his battling depression and financial troubles.
His suicide, as well as former Islander Sophie Gradon's suspected suicide last year, has sparked a debate about reality TV show after care.
Today, the Sun on Sunday revealed 38 suspected suicides linked to reality TV shows worldwide.
Speaking on the risks of being a reality TV star, Pete said: "I think people need to assess whether they can deal with the pressures that come with it.
“Any show I’ve been involved with I’ve been offered aftercare. It’s down to whether or not you wanna talk about things.
"Sometimes people don’t and they think they can deal with it when you they need that help.”
