VIEWERS were utterly devastated by the scenes as Rana died while she was trapped in the factory
CORONATION Street viewers were left devastated after Rana Habeeb was killed in shocking scenes tonight.
The nurse - who is played by actress Bhavna Limbachia in the ITV soap - was crushed in the factory collapse on her wedding day and ended up marrying Kate Connor in the rubble before dying in her arms.
Rana insisted the pair got married after Imran helped Kate battle through the police to see her for one last time.
"Tell me your vows," she told Kate.
An upset Kate gave in and told her: "You're everything to me, my whole life. Someone said love is one soul in two bodies and that's us.
"I can't exist without you. You are the most beautiful person in the whole world. And you look a million times better than I do. And then I was going to go on to say I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you. All my love, always."
Rana smiled but said she couldn't remember her vows and began to panic before telling her: "I don't want to leave you."
She eventually found the words and after telling Kate how much she loved her, she added: "All my love, always."
She then passed away as Kate broke down in sobs as she lay with her wife in the ruins of the factory.
Earlier she had desperately tried to get through to Rana after she failed to turn up for the wedding ceremony.
"I'm in the factory, I can't get out," Rana told her as Kate finally got through to her on the phone.
"I came into the office to get my bag and there was a bang."
But the call cut off and Rana was left screaming for help alone in the factory.
Crying she left Kate a voicemail, telling her: "I'm really scared. I don't know whether I'm safe in here. Please, you've got to help me. I'm in the office and I can't move. I need to get out of here. Please, I love you."
She began praying and Kate called back and she began rushing to the factory and tried to keep Rana calm on the phone.
But as Kate arrived at the factory to get to Rana, another collapse followed burying Rana in the debris again and leaving her alone without the emergency services.
Later Ali went into the factory and Rana, realising she was going to die, begged Ali to tell Kate the truth of her situation.
Kate broke down screaming in horror at the news, while Rana's brother Imran sobbed in devastation.
Viewers were left devastated and in tears at the scenes with one saying: "Rana and Kate’s screams will haunt me for f**ing ever."
A second said: "Well... The tears are flowing... #Rana #Kana @BhavnaLimbachia"
Another added: "Kate being told that Rana won’t get out...the scream @Faye_Brookes"
Earlier Kate was frantic when Rana failed to show up to the wedding on time and when she called Imran to find out where she was, he had no idea.
The factory collapsed without any of the guests having any idea of what happened.
Paul, Kirk, Gemma, Emma and Sean were all left fighting for their lives after the first collapse as Sally lay unconscious in the ruins.
They were all got out and sent rushed to hospital.
Exposed live wires and a flood left them trapped and unable to move for fear of being electrocuted, but fortunately Abi broke in and found the fuse box and managed to cut the power before anyone died from electrocution.
The Sun exclusively revealed earlier this year how Bhavna had decided to quit the show - and had asked to be killed off.
An ITV source said: "This will devastate fans of the show who have grown to love Kate and Rana, who they nicknamed Kana.
"This was very much Bhavna’s decision, she told Kate Oates last year she wanted to try other things, and sat down with Iain the minute he joined.
"She wanted Rana to be killed off as she didn’t like the idea of just splitting them up as it would upset the fans of the show."
