Jason Manford is launching new quiz show for ITV called 5 Second Stars
The primetime show will feature contestants teaming up in a bid to win a big cash prize in a string of fast-paced rounds
JASON Manford has clearly been reading the Bradley Walsh ”how to make it in showbiz” manual.
After releasing an album, trying his hand at acting and becoming a musical theatre star, the Mancunian funnyman has now landed a primetime quiz show on ITV — just like Bradley’s The Chase.
Jason will front a major new series called 5 Second Stars, which will also see contestants team up in a bid to win a big cash prize in a string of fast-paced rounds.
A TV insider said: “Jason has become one of ITV’s golden boys and has really clicked with younger viewers, especially with his programme Bigheads.
“There’s a huge demand for new quiz shows at the moment, so producers were delighted to get him on board for their next big series.
“A pilot for 5 Second Stars is being filmed at the end of the month.
“The aim is to place it in a primetime slot later in the year — but it’s still early days.
“Like The Chase, contestants are going to be offered the chance to win big money, and there will be celebrity specials too.”
The first two programmes are being recorded at Elstree Film and TV Studios in London on March 25.
They will feature members of the public and three surprise celebrity guests will also be getting involved.
5 Second Stars is the latest in a long line of shows Jason has presented for ITV, including What Would Your Kid Do? and Show Me The Funny.
And it seems Jason is in for a busy few weeks.
He is hosting theatreland’s Olivier Awards at the Royal Albert Hall in London on April 7.
Then, later in the year he’ll be treading the boards himself in musical comedy, Curtains.
Bradley must be quaking in his boots.

A Sunday host for Torode
MASTERCHEF’s John Torode and Lisa Faulkner may be shaping up nicely as the next Richard and Judy
The newly engaged couple have been given their own Sunday morning ITV show – John And Lisa’s Weekend Kitchen – just three months after John proposed.
They will host the programme from a cosy kitchen as they share tips and techniques for beginners to keen home cooks.
Lisa said: “I am really looking forward to working with John.
“It’s a lovely series and even better, we get to share some of our favourite recipes and ideas with the viewers. We’re going to have a lot of fun.”
Meanwhile Eamonn Holmes and wife Ruth Langsford have been given another run of spin-off show This Morning Sunday.
I’m sure they’ll have some handy hints on working with your other half.
