Danny Dyer snapped downing bottle of beer at the Tric Awards after saying he was ‘off it’
DANNY DYER claimed to be a reformed man having kicked boozing into touch, saying he was “off it”.
But my picture shows he’s back to his wild days having knocked back bottles of Peroni with co-stars at the Tric (Television And Radio Industries Clubs) Awards yesterday.
He bagged the Soap Actor award for his EastEnders role as landlord Mick Carter.
While accepting the gong he was heard “slurring his words” but it wasn’t long before he was whisked off by BBC producers. An awards source said: “Danny was swigging on Peroni from the bottle during lunch.
"He didn’t seem to care who saw him. When he won, he seemed in high spirits and was slurring his words on stage, despite it taking some time to make it to get up there.”
Danny took a short break from the BBC soap in 2017 after he fell off the wagon. But he seemed up for a session as he got his gong yesterday. He said: “It’s a f***ing half- marathon getting up here. Let’s be straight — it’s a Tuesday, half past two in the afternoon, it’s a f***ing little mental afternoon.”
He also found a drinking partner in comic Michael McIntyre, who won the Entertainment Programme award for his Big Show on BBC1.
The funnyman said: “I’m going to get drunk with Danny Dyer now.”
Lorraine honour
TV LEGEND and Sun columnist Lorraine Kelly was given a special honour to celebrate her 35-year screen career.
She bagged the Tric Special Award and paid tribute to her team on her ITV show which includes my boss, Sun Executive Editor Dan Wootton (I have to give him a plug), adding they were “the best in the business”.
Lorraine added: “I can’t celebrate too hard because I’m interviewing Ralph Fiennes tomorrow but I’ll definitely have a glass of champagne and then properly celebrate on the weekend.”
And she ruled out any chance of going to the US to present like James Corden and Piers Morgan.
She said: “I enjoy what I do too much. And life with my family is really important.
“But hey, fair play to anybody that wants to do it.”
I’m glad we get to keep her.
Not missing a Tric
Other big names grabbing some attention at the Tric Awards included Laura Whitmore, I'm A Celeb's Emily Atack and Greatest Dancer coach Oti Mabuse.
Award does the Tric for Holly
SHE was left in tears after losing out to Ant & Dec for Best TV Presenter at the NTA Awards in January. But Holly Willoughby got her own back at yesterday’s awards – scooping TV Personality Of The Year.
It was welcome news for Holly, who had to miss the ceremony to attend her grandmother’s funeral.
