Hollyoaks Ste Hay ‘will be a puppet on a string’ for evil far right extremist group after being groomed by evil Jonny, says Ray Quinn
HOLLYOAKS newcomer Ray Quinn has explained why Ste Hay is the target of the Channel 4's new extreme storyline.
Ray Quinn's on screen alter-ego and Kieron Richardson's character Ste Hay will explore how far-right extremists target, groom and operate with a special episode airing next week.
The Hollyoaks newbie told Channel 4 that Jonny and his group have targeted Ste because the movement is trying to recruit a variety of people to join their group, and gay single dad Ste's sexuality, and the fact he's hit rock bottom after the death of his sister, fits that criteria.
Ray told Channel 4's official website: "Jonny and Stuart have targeted Ste because, from what I have learned from the research chats we have had, the movement is looking to recruit a variety within the group to broaden the horizon of where it first began.
"They bring in a gay man in order for the group to grow and expand and make their movement heard. Ste is vulnerable, because he’s gone through a lot. He’s scared because he’s been hurt. He’s right at the bottom of the barrel before Jonny arrived."
The former X Factor star also said that an extra member would "broaden their voice in the public."
"Jonny and Stuart say they want to get him doing exactly what Stuart and the lads have been doing for a long time which is getting the word out there.
"They hope Ste will be their speaker, getting him to do their dirty work is their generic goal. He’s their puppet on a string."
As the plot thickens Ste's bad blood with the Maalik family worsens and Jonny will manipulate Ste and his thoughts.
Kieron Richardson, 31 who plays Ste Hay was recently left feeling "dirty and horrible" after filming for the controversial scenes.
He has also been forced to quit Twitter after the backlash of the new Hollyoaks plot which started after Ste accussed Dr Misbah Maalik for the death of his sister Tegan.
A source told : "Kieron thinks it's great that people are talking about the storyline. It's only natural that there will be negative comments about Ste's actions over the next few weeks and months.
"As Kieron was being tagged into negative posts about Ste, he decided that he didn't want to be distracted by them while he works on such an important storyline. The last thing he wants to do is filter or compromise his performance because of something he's read online."
