Kerry Katona begs Coronation Street bosses for an audition to replace Kym Marsh as the Rovers Return landlady

KERRY Katona revealed that she'd love a role in Coronation Street following Rovers Return landlady Kym Marsh's departure from the soap.

The 38-year-old discussed the prospect of a career in acting in her favourite soap and begged show bosses to give her a call.

"I was sad to see Kym Marsh is leaving Coronation Street but if that frees up a space in the cast, then ITV, you know who to call!" Kerry said in her new! magazine column.

The Celebs Go Dating star continued: "I reckon I'd be brilliant behind the bar at the Rovers. Can't you just see me as the new Bet Lynch?

"I love acting and without a doubt Corrie is my favourite soap. I'm always up for an audition."

Kym, 42, announced her departure from the Manchester based soap a few weeks ago.

She told The Sun: “It’s been an incredibly difficult decision but it feels like the right time.”

She added: “When I was lucky enough to be offered four episodes I could never in my wildest dreams have thought I’d be here 13 years later.

“It’s been an incredibly difficult decision but it feels like the right time for me to explore some other roles.”

The Sun exclusively revealed that Kym is set to "make a million" in lucrative deals and will be able to test her earning power now that she has left the soap.

And according to The Mirror, the actress didn't have to wait long as she has already landed a new TV role and theatre show just days after her announcement.

A source revealed: "Kym has a really busy year ahead.

"She’s still got a while left on Corrie and then she’s already got two exciting projects lined up – in a TV show and in the theatre."
