Mr Selfridge star Tom Goodman-Hill says CHEATING on his wife helped him play two-timing husband
MR SELFRIDGE star Tom Goodman-Hill says cheating on his wife helped him deliver a "successful" performance in his new drama.
The actor has been cast in ITV’s new psychological thriller Cheat alongside ex Corrie star Katherine Kelly and reckons he was perfect for the role after two-timing first wife Kerry Bradley.
Tom wed Kerry in 2005 and they have two children together.
Then in 2013, he sparked an affair with Call The Midwife star Jessica Raine, who he later married.
Tom told: "I was very conscious of that when I picked up the script. If you understand the map, if you know how that feels, you’re going to bring something of that to the part.
"You choose moments from your life that resonate with your character.
He went on: "Part of your job is to help people understand what emotions people go through in any given situation so, inevitably, someone who can access it and understand it, is going to, perhaps, do that more successfully than someone who can’t."
His 36-year-old spouse recently gave birth to their first child together.
Jessica first confirmed the happy news at the premiere of her new BBC drama Baptiste while taking part in a Q&A in January.
reported how Jessica had a noticeable baby bump and discussed performing stunts while being pregnant.
She explained: "I was a bit tired but the worrying thing for production was there was a car race and stunt and I neglected to tell them I was pregnant when I took the job.
"I broke the news and everyone was amazing, we had to work out how to do a car chase without me being in any danger.
"Also my character is quite hard and being pregnant is quite emotional so it worked well, I was interested most in food on this job so my shirts get bigger as the series goes on."
