Russell Brand finally apologies to Andrew Sachs’ granddaughter — 11 years after lewd text scandal

RUSSELL Brand has apologised to the grand-daughter of Andrew Sachs — 11 years after he sparked a scandal by leaving lewd messages about her on the late actor’s phone.
Brand, 43, had a face-to-face meeting with Georgina Baillie, 33, and said sorry for “Sachsgate”.
Former bad-boy Brand — now a married dad of two — has also given Georgina thousands of pounds to help get back on track. Actress Georgina — who has in the past admitted a “wild” lifestyle and taking drugs — accepted his apology.
The 2008 scandal erupted when Brand and broadcaster Jonathan Ross called Sachs, who played Manuel on Fawlty Towers, and left crude messages about Georgina which were broadcast on Radio 2.
A source said: “It is great what Russell is doing for her - but why the hell has it taken so long? She went through absolute hell when the scandal erupted, and has struggled since."
“But, to be fair, when Russell was told Georgina was having a few problems, he did the right thing and went to see her.
“It was him who decided that it would be good for Georgina if he went and apologised.”
Sources said former Satanic Sluts dancer Georgina had moved away from London temporarily to re- assess her life.
Brand, who lives in a £3.5million home in Henley, Oxon, with Laura Gallacher and their children, travelled to visit Georgina in Burton, Staffs.
They spoke in a room with another person present, to ensure Georgina was OK.
The source added: “Russell was very humble throughout it all. He said it was 100 per cent his fault, and he deeply regretted it all, “Georgina told him the scandal caused her a lot of problems and left her feeling empty and ashamed.
“But she did say after, ‘What took him so long?’ All he ever had to do was call me.”
