Little Mix’s Jesy Nelson DUMPS Love Island’s Chris Hughes after just three weeks over fears that he could have been using their fling for publicity
Jesy ended their short-lived romance after pals grew concerned Chris was using her name to boost his profile
JESY NELSON has dumped Chris Hughes after just three weeks of dating, over fears that he could have been using their fling for publicity.
The Little Mix singer ended their short-lived romance when pals grew concerned the Love Island hunk may have been using her name to boost his profile.
Alarm bells started to ring for those closest to Jesy after the pair were pictured kissing at a South London kebab shop, with some questioning how their relationship became public so quickly.
A source said: “Chris has been upset by the break-up.
“But Jesy has explained that she needs to protect herself and her career, and taking their romance any further was proving a massive risk.
“Out of nowhere their relationship became public and they were photographed snogging. Some of Jesy’s pals are asking how the paparazzi knew they were there.
“For now she’s going to enjoy being single until the right man comes along.”
The couple’s split came after Jesy’s bandmate Perrie Edwards said Chris “seems really nice” when asked about him during a radio interview — though she also admitted she had not met the reality star.
Jesy will be on high alert after her previous romance with former Towie star Chris Clark ended amid reports that he only dated her for his own advantage.
He finished with Jesy over the phone while she was on tour and gave little explanation for why he was cutting ties. Just days after their split, Chris reconciled with his ex and co-star Amber Dowding — and Jesy’s misfortune became a storyline for the reality TV series.
Her romance with Chris Hughes, whose relationship with Olivia Attwood ended last year, came shortly after Jesy parted ways from boyfriend Harry James after 16 months.
But luckily for Jesy, her Little Mix commitments provide a healthy distraction from her love life.
She is already gearing up for this year’s Brit Awards on February 20, where the girlband will perform a collaboration with rising star Ms Banks.
There will be plenty of eligible bachelors at the after-party to help her get over any heartache.
