Comedy actress Ruth Madoc rushed to hospital after breaking her hip during fall

RUTH Madoc was rushed to hospital after breaking her hip in a horror fall.
She has now been forced to pull out of the Calendar Girls theatre tour following the incident on Thursday.
The Hi-de-Hi! star, 75, had been due to return to the stage this afteroon (SAT) in Dublin.
A statement said: “The producers, cast and crew of Calendar Girls the Musical wish her a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming her back very soon.”
The Swansea actress strips off with co-stars including Fern Britton, 61, and Denise Welch, 60, in the racy play by Take That’s Gary Barlow, 48, and Tim Firth, 54.
It tells the famous true story of the Yorkshire ladies who bared all for a Women’s Institute calendar in 1998.

Ruth, best known as Gladys Pugh in Eighties BBC comedy Hi-de-Hi!, said she was comfortable going starkers ahead of the musical’s opening show at Dublin Bord Gais Energy Theatre on January 22.
She told the Calendar Girls website: “I might be old, but in the days of The Black and White Minstrel Show, we were doing two shows a day, would have 16 costume changes on the side of the stage, and all that I had on is a g-string and a pair of fishnet tights!”
The tour visits 21 cities in the UK before closing in Chester on November 2.
