The first trailer for the film has sparked outrage, with many complaining it is “glorifying” his vile crimes.
Taking to Twitter to discuss it, one person wrote: “Can we not sexualize Ted Bundy? He raped, murdered, and decapitated women and had sex with their dead bodies. “
Another commented: “Not here for this hyper-sexualized Zac Efron film. I know the youth of twitter will obsess over him, and I'd prefer not to read thirst tweets about a serial murderer.”
While someone else wrote: “Can y’all just like not sexualize Ted Bundy plz.”
They tweeted: “I’ve seen a lot of talk about Ted Bundy’s alleged hotness and would like to gently remind everyone that there are literally THOUSANDS of hot men on the service — almost all of whom are not convicted serial murderers.”
Zac is well known for being somewhat of a heartthrob, having recently starred in The Greatest Showman and Baywatch.
Speaking about playing the role, the actor told Wenn: "The most interesting and exciting thing for me to contribute to the movie was Ted had this thing about him, this facade, his charm, and the way that he worked with people.
"A lot of people in prison loved him. Cops that knew him seemed to think he was an OK guy. It wasn’t until after he fully admitted to everything that most of the world really believed that Ted was even capable of these things. He pulled the wool over our eyes."
Who was Ted Bundy’s wife Carole Ann Boone and when was their daughter Rose born?
