She told hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby she had been thinking about adoption for a long time, but now feels ready to offer an orphan a home.

The ex-glamour model is now putting plans in place and is looking forward to welcoming her sixth child in the not-so-distant future.

Katie said: "I've always said I wanted to adopt a child and don't care if they've got a disability or what age they are. I feel like I can offer a place."

Plans to make her dream a reality came after Katie got talking to a woman at her nail salon who does work with an orphanage in Nigeria.

Katie was supposed to go to Nigeria last weekend, but said she couldn't because she was looking after the kids.

She shares custody of Princess and Junior with ex Peter Andre and her youngest kids Bunny and Jett split their time with her and third husband Kieran Hayler.

Katie cares full-time for her 16-year-old son Harvey who has Prader-Willi syndrome and whose father is former footballer Dwight Yorke.

Adopting from Nigeria

ADOPTING a child from Nigeria is a long process.

According to gov.uk, Katie will have to contact her local council or a voluntary adoption agency to be assessed as a parent.

The assessment and application will be sent to an overseas adoption agency, and Katie will have to visit the child in Nigeria.

If both parties are happy with the application and it’s accepted, and Katie can prove that the child “cannot be cared for in a safe environment in their own country and the adoption would be in their best interests”, a fee of £1,975 (plus VAT) would be paid to the Department for Education. Katie would need to adopt the child legally in both Nigeria and the UK.

When asked why she wouldn't adopt a British baby, Katie said: "It's so hard to adopt over here, like so hard.

"I've looked into it for ages.

"Hopefully something will happen. I still want my own kids don't get me wrong and will definitely have more.

"If I can offer another child, I will. There's enough rooms in the house.

"Good things are happening."

The 40-year-old was on This Morning to talk about moving on from her recent stint in rehab following a drink and drug binge last year.

She is now studying for a paramedic's degree, planning a film of her life, turning her novels into a movie, hoping to release an acoustic album and do a one-woman show at the Royal Albert Hall.

Katie added: "I have hit rock bottom in so many ways, I couldn't get more bottom. The only way is up now.
"I want to say to people there's no need to be ashamed of anything, just go for it."
