Cheryl inspired to take up ballet again after watching ballerina, 80, perform on Greatest Dancer
CHERYL is inspired to return to her ballet dancer roots in tonight's episode of The Greatest Dancer when she meets Britain's oldest ballerina.
The former Girls Aloud singer, 35, flirted with a future in dance when she attended the Royal Ballet School a two-week summer course.
After watching 81-year-old Barbara Peters perform in tonight's show, Cheryl told her: "I used to do ballet when I was young. You've inspired me to want to get back into it. If I can get back into ballet and end up looking like you at 80 - job done!"
During an appearance on The One Show last night, viewers were treated to a clip of 9-year-old Cheryl showing off her moves in a tutu that the star still owns.
Cheryl previously said of her time in the ballet world: "Everyone was prim and proper and I was a Geordie from a council estate...
"I didn't want to have to stand a certain way all my life and only eat salad."
The singer thrilled fans last night when she revealed she will be releasing new music in the very near future.
Cheryl confirmed to The One Show hosts Matt Baker and Alex Jones: "I am releasing a new song in March, ish, I never like to give a specific date."
When quizzed on what fans can expect from her next release, Cheryl kept details to a minimum, adding: "It is a bit more uptempo."
It comes after her big comeback single, Love Made Me Do It, reached a peak position of 19 on the UK charts.
But the song did reach the top spot on the UK's Official Trending Chart thanks to it's music video and radio airplay.
