Bond bosses aren’t considering Richard Madden yet – because they want Daniel Craig to stay

FRENZIED speculation about Richard Madden replacing Daniel Craig as James Bond has been rife for many months, especially since his game-changing Golden Globes win.

But everyone needs to take a chill pill, because I’ve been assured this week those discussions are not even close.

My Bond insiders insist boss Barbara Broccoli has not seriously considered a single name from the raft of potential replacements that have been touted.

The executive producer, who runs production company Eon, has refused to even draw up a shortlist for the new face.

As well as Bodyguard hunk Madden, other serious names tipped for the job include Idris Elba, Damian Lewis, Sam Worthington and Tom Hiddleston.

But Broccoli has ignored the chatter because she is “loyal to Daniel” while he remains 007, according to sources. Further, she feels that hunting for a replacement while he is in the job would be “disrespectful”.

Besides, right now Broccoli “cannot look beyond Daniel” as “she values everything he has done for the franchise in the past decade”.

The insider – who has revealed a string of exclusives about the Bond world – added that Broccoli has not even officially drawn a line through the possibility of Craig making another film.

The much-delayed 25th Bond – Craig’s fifth outing that he is expected to bank around £60million for – is expected out in spring 2020.

If he left, it’s highly unlikely the next Bond would be in cinemas before 2023.

And, as we saw with Hiddleston and that cringeworthy Taylor Swift PDA, a lot can change in Hollywood in just a few months…
