WITH party pooper Victoria Beckham refusing to be part of the Spice Girls reunion tour this summer, massive stars from Katy Perry to Adele have been touted to join the band on stage in place of Posh.
But it turns out Mel C has already offered the gig — for at least part of the summer — to Dancing On Ice’s Saara Aalto.
In a recent conversation, the Finnish Eurovision sensation asked Sporty Spice: “I was thinking, could I be the sixth Spice Girl?”
In an apparent dig at Victoria, Mel replied: “You can be the fifth one if you want. Well, there’s always room for another great singer. I can say that.”
Saara — a Spice superfan — is now intending to join the girls for at least some of their concerts.
In an exclusive interview, she tells me: “They want to have a fifth member for the tour. I was like, ‘Is this a real question?’ It’s insane.
“She said there’s room for someone who can really sing. I just thought it was incredible she said that.”
Replacing VB should be a piece of cake, says the former X Factor runner-up.
She explains: “Posh was my favourite Spice Girl but she didn’t have that many lines to sing.”
Saara has also received the endorsement of Ginger Spice Geri Horner, who has written her a song for a forthcoming album.
She reveals: “That is even crazier. Geri wrote it and she wants me to sing it. I am also hoping to write new music with her soon because she is so exciting and bubbly.”
In the meantime, Saara’s entire focus is on Dancing On Ice, a show where Baby Spice Emma Bunton used to be on the judging panel.
Tomorrow she’ll make history by being the first contestant to sing while dancing — a cover of the Frozen hit Let It Go, which she has released this week.
But she has refused to let the backstage controversy impact her growing friendship with Gemma Collins, who I am campaigning for to win the show.
Saara says: “Gemma has been so supportive and nice to me, so I don’t have anything bad to say.
“She’s missed a few practices but I don’t really know — we all have different schedules, so it’s so hard to say what’s happened.”
Despite her position as the show’s singer, Saara won’t be a diva behind the scenes. She explains: “There are so many people working there and it’s very hard to be a diva because you don’t really want to waste anybody’s time.
“I don’t want to be difficult personally. On stage is the right place for a diva.”

The hit ITV show has also put Saara’s plans to marry fiance Meri Sopanen on ice for the moment — unless producers make an offer. She says: “We are so busy we don’t even have time to talk about the wedding.
“But we could actually do it on Dancing On Ice — we are crazy people and have been waiting for the right moment. It’s a great idea.”
The GC could marry them.
