Olivia Colman scoops Best Actress in a Comedy but fails to turn up to Critics’ Choice Awards
OLIVIA Colman was honoured with the best actress gong at the Critics' Choice Awards on Sunday night - but she failed to pick up her prize.
The Favourite actress, 44, skipped the ceremony that recognised her for her role as Queen Anne in the Actress in a Comedy group.
The Favourite also won Best Ensemble Prize, but Oliva's co-stars Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone also dodged the star-studded bash held in Santa Monica, California.
The movie is set in the 18th Century and sees two manipulative cousins vie for the attention of a completely useless Queen Anne (Colman), a woman teetering on the brink of ill health and lunacy.
Colman failed to show after she recently admitted she endured an 'embarrassing' sex scene with Stone while playing the bi-sexual.
Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, Olivia admitted she played a prank on Emma during the intimate scenes.
She said: "Emma Stone was worried about me though because she had to touch me intimately under the sheets.
"So, I put a big wet sponge there as a barrier. She was going up my leg and her face was a picture when she reached it!"
Olivia also revealed how she trusted The Favourite director Yorgos Lanthimos during the sex scenes.
She said: "I trusted him completely in the love making scenes."
She continued: "I love my job very much. I love going to work, which I know is very lucky, but the other stuff is a bit embarrassing."
Olivia is joined on the show by her co-star Nicholas Hoult, as well as Keira Knightley, who has a same-sex romp of her own in her new period drama, Colette.
