Now she's starring in the latest series of ITV crime drama Vera. Here's what you need to know about the actress...
Who is Ibinabo Jack and what else has she been in?
Ibinabo Jack is a 35-year-old actor from Wigan.
She studied at Winstanley College before training at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.
Ibinabo is both a stage and screen actor.
She played Lorell Robinson in the West End's Dreamgirls for which she received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress In A New Musical Category by website BroadwayWorld.
And has starred in other stage productions such as The Bodyguard UK Tour as well as taking on the role of Pilar in the West End production of Legally Blonde.
Besides her part as DC Jacqueline Williams in Vera, she has also starred in 2018's film Two For Joy.
What is Vera and what happens in series 9?
Vera is a crime based drama based on the novels by Ann Cleeves.
The series follows experienced Detective Chief Inspector Vera Stanhope as she tries to crack some of the toughest cases in Northumberland.
The opening episode of the show’s ninth season, titled Blind Spot, explores the case of Joanne Caswell, a newly qualified HMP forensic psychologist working in Newcastle.
When her body is found dumped on a landfill site far from home, Vera alights on the fact that Joanne had been looking into the crime of a former patient who had recently committed suicide.
Vera must follow the trail that Joanne has left behind to uncover who might have had a motive to kill her.
When is Vera on?
Vera is now in its ninth season and continues on Sunday, January 20 at 8pm.
It will be going head-to-head with Les Miserables on BBC One and SAS: Who Dares Wins on Channel 4.
This year, the show is up for an NTA in the Drama category.
Like the previous series, there will be four episodes in total.
