The ex-England star, 43, was seen dressed like the period drama gangsters as he waited for a train home afterwards.
But other passengers could not tell if he was in character for the BBC show — or simply wearing his usual rakish regalia.
One of them told The Sun: “He came on to the platform with a man and a woman who looked like his PR and bodyguard.
“He was chatty and friendly then he moved to the end of the platform where there was less people.
“I wasn’t sure whether what he was wearing was high-end or a costume. It was only later that I heard Peaky Blinders was being filmed in the town.”
After a day spent filming in Stockport, Greater Manchester with actors including leading man Cillian Murphy, 42, David made his way to the town’s station, where he posed for selfies with staff.
A few days ago the former Man U midfielder unveiled a clothing collection in collaboration with the show, which revolves around gangsters in Birmingham 90 years ago.
The line, which David developed with fashion label Kent & Curwen, includes grandad shirts, waistcoats and flat caps — all of which he regularly wears. He said: “I’m a big fan of the show and our brand has always been about the look.”

In recent years Becks has appeared in two movies by his mate Guy Ritchie.
In 2015 he had a small part in The Man From Uncle, then two years later he was in King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.
A critic said his cameo revealed “just about enough dramatic range to have played the stone the sword got stuck in”.
