Celebrity deaths in 2019 – from Marie Fredriksson to Juice Wrld and Gary Rhodes

IT has been a year in which we've had to say goodbye to many much-loved celebrities with untimely death after untimely death.

We remember those stars who have passed away so far in 2019.

Which celebrities have died in 2019?

Gary Rhodes, 59

Gary Rhodes died of "natural causes" on November 26 after falling ill "very suddenly" during filming for a new ITV series.

The 59-year-old - famed for his gelled spiky hair - died unexpectedly with his wife by his bedside in Dubai.

The dad-of-two - who moved to the UAE in 2007 - was working on the day he died and his death is said to have come as a complete shock.

Rhodes was a household name in the early 2000s and starred in shows such as MasterChef, Hell's Kitchen and also fronted his own cooking shows.

Juice Wrld, 21

US rap star Juice Wrld died died on Sunday, December 8, just six days after celebrating his 21st birthday.

Juice suffered a seizure at Chicago's Midway Airport after getting off a flight from Chicago.

He was bleeding from the mouth when medics arrived, according to 

Initial tests have proved inconclusive but law enforcement sources believe he may have overdosed after the plane landed at about 1am on December 8, 2019.

The entertainment website has reported that paramedics spent 40 minutes trying to save him before he was taken to hospital at 2.55am.

But when they arrived at 3.06am, Juice was pronounced dead.

Brian Turk, 49

Actor Brian Turk was best known for his role on Beverley Hills, 90210 and also starred in HBO's Carnivale and Boy Meets World.

He passed away following complications due to cancer on Friday, September 13 2019 at the age of 49.

He had first been diagnosed with the brain cancer in early 2018 and a Go Fund Me named In Support of the Brian Turk Family.

Brian leaves behind his wife, Emily Wu, and his eight-year-old son.

Ric Ocasek, 75

Ric Ocasek was famed for being a member of the band The Cars, which he was lead singer and founder of.

He was found dead at his Gramercy Park home in Manhattan, New York City by his estranged wife Paulina.

Authorities confirmed there was no sign of foul play and said the singer is thought to have died from natural causes.

The Cars also produced some legendary hits including Drive, My Best Friend’s Girl and Good Times Roll during their heydays.

Luke Perry, 52

Riverdale and 90210 star Luke Perry died after suffering from a "massive stroke" at the age of 52 on March 4, 2019.

The 90s heartthrob stole the affections of many in his role of Dylan McKay in popular TV series Beverly Hills, 90210.

And in 2016 he joined the cast of US TV series Riverdale.

He was rushed to hospital on Wednesday, February 27, and had been sedated to allow his brain to recover but the damage was too extensive, reported.

Keith Flint, 49

The Prodigy frontman was found dead in his Essex home on Monday, March 4, 2019.

The rave legend allegedly killed himself after putting his home up for sale following a devastating split from his wife Mayumi Kai.

Sources say he became depressed after the split with his wife and may have started using drugs again.

Keith was found “unresponsive” by medics at the £1.5million marital home in Dunmow.

Lisa Sheridan, 44

American actress Lisa Sheridan sadly passed away at her home in New Orleans on February 25.

She had starred in CSI: Miami and Invasion and was previously engaged to Sex And The City actor Ron Livingston.

Mark Hollis, 64

Talk Talk singer Mark Hollis sadly died aged 64 on February 25, 2019.

His former manager confirmed he died  after "a short illness from which he never recovered".

His band had a total of five top 40 UK tracks - Today, Talk Talk, It's My Life and Life's What You Make It in 1986 and 1990.

However Mark retired from public life in 1998.

Karl Lagerfeld, 85

Chanel fashion legend Karl Lagerfeld died on February 19 with Victoria Beckham leading tributes to the "kind genius".

Gordon Banks, 81

England's World Cup hero Gordon Banks died on February 12, 2019.

The goalkeeper who won the World Cup in 1966 with England was also known for "That Save" to deny Pele in 1970.

Albert Finney, 82

Scrooge actor Albert Finney died on February 7 at The Royal Marsden Hospital in London.

He star passed away after a short illness.

Kristoff St. John, 52

Kristoff was a talented US actor best known for his role in long-running soap The Young & The Restless.

The actor passed away on February 3, 2019 aged 52.

Kristoff's cause of death has not yet been confirmed.

TMZ reported that the actor's body was found at his home in San Fernando Valley when one of his friends went to check on him.

Clive Swift,  82

Keeping Up Appearances actor Clive Swift sadly passed away aged 82 on February 1, 2019.

The actor famously played Richard Bucket - the downtrodden and long-suffering husband of snob Hyacinth Bucket - in the beloved BBC show.

His agent confirmed he died "peacefully at home" surrounded by his family.

Jeremy Hardy, 57

British comedy legend Jeremy Hardy died, aged 57, after a short cancer battle on February 1, 2019.

The funnyman, famous for appearing on Mock the Week and radio shows such as I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue, passed away on Friday with his wife and daughter at his side.

Andrew Fairlie, 55

MasterChef: The Professionals star Andrew Fairlie died aged 55 after brain tumour.

His death was revealed on January 22. He was first diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2005.

Steve Bean, 58

Steve Bean, also known as Steve Levy, died following a battle with cancer on January 21.

The Shameless acto also starred as Mr Marcioni in the TV show Ray Donovan.

Brian Velasco, 41

Brian Velasco was the drummer with rock band Razorback who died in Manila, in the Philippines.

He died on January 16, 2019, after jumping from the roof deck of an apartment.

Jo Andres, 64

Filmmaker and wife of Steve Buscemi, Jo Andres, died on January 6, 2019.

She passed away from encapsulating peritoneal sclerosi.

Mean Gene Okerlund died at age 76

Gene Okerlund, 76

WWE legend and Hall of Famer Mean Gene Okerlund passed away at age 76 on January 3.

Gene was most recognisable for his backstage interviews working with both the WWE and formerly WCW.

The WWE confirmed the death of Okerlund on Twitter, which came one year after his last appearance on TV.

Dean Ford, 72

The frontman of pop group Marmalade passed away on January 2.

Dean died at the age of 72 after a lifetime recording music.

The Glasgow band, which Ford fronted until 1975, was best known for reaching number one in 1969 with its cover version of The Beatles "Ob-la-di Ob-la-da".

Bob Einstein, 76

Curb Your Enthusiasm and Arrested Development actor Bob Einstein died at the age of 76, on January 2.

His younger brother, comedian and actor Albert Brooks, paid tribute to a "great brother, father and husband" and a "brilliantly funny man".

The two-time Emmy winner who created the Super Dave Osborne character died in Indian Wells, California, after he was diagnosed with cancer.

Marie Fredriksson, 61

Roxette singer Marie died after a 17-year battle with cancer.

Fredriksson was diagnosed with a severe brain tumour in 2002, and Dimberg Jernberg Management said that she received "an aggressive treatment that took its toll but ultimately was successful".

Fredriksson is survived by husband Mikael Bolyos and her two children Josefin and Oscar.
