GOLDEN Globes viewers were left in hysterics earlier this evening when The Good Place actress Jameela Jamil was introduced as her character's SISTER'S name in the ticker.

The 32-year-old Brit was identified as Kamilah Al-Jamil while she was being filmed on E!'s Red Carpet Live ahead of the ceremony.

Jameela plays do-gooder Tahani Al-Jamil in US sitcom The Good Place, with her character frequently talking about how she was always upstaged by her sister, Kamilah, in the show.

The sibling rivalry storyline made the blunder all the more hilarious for fans, who took to social media to poke fun at the gaffe - with some even wondering if a Good Place viewer had given Jameela the wrong name on purpose.

One asked: "Um...E! Red Carpet Live just showed @jameelajamil slay on the red carpet but then the ticker below introduced her as 'KAMILAH-AL JAMIL.'

"Snarky prank by person who loves The Good Place or a genuine screw up?"

Another quipped: "Someone at @enews has a dark sense of humour. Poor Tahani. @jameelajamil #ifyouknowyouknow #thegoodplace".

A third added: "She's @jameelajamil folks, you have one job."

Another said: "Watching #GoldenGlobes red carpet, did E! just caption Jameela Jamil as Kamilah al-Jamil? What a great, subtle joke. This is truly Tahani's Bad Place."

Jameela is yet to respond to the mishap, but previously took to her Instagram Story to reveal that she had taken inspiration from her character Tahani with her stunning pink gown .

The strapless dress had floral embroidery and chiffon detailing as it flowed down to the floor.

The low-maintenance star opted out of wearing visible jewellery for the do, and kept her long, black hair loose around her shoulders.

The Good Place is nominated in the Musical or Comedy TV Series category at tonight's Golden Globes, with Jameela's co-star, Kristen Bell, nominated in the Actress in a Musical or Comedy TV Series category for her role of Eleanor Shellstrop in the show.
