Corrie’s Simon Gregson has lucky escape from blaze that engulfed The Ivy restaurant in Manchester
The 44-year-old actor has since tweeted to thank staff who helped evacuate the fine dining establishment

CORONATION Street star Simon Gregson had a lucky escape this weekend after he was dining at at a Manchester restaurant when a fire broke out.
The actor, 44, and other patrons of The Ivy were evacuated with the emergency services battling the blaze for over an hour.
The luxurious restaurant was bustling on Friday evening when Simon was enjoying a meal with wife Emma Gleave and several friends to celebrate a birthday.
While it's still unclear as to what caused the fire, all customers were safely evacuated with no reported injuries.
During the evacuation Emma shared a clip on her Twitter, writing: "The Ivy Manchester is now on fire! What a lucky escape!"
Simon later tweeted: "Hats off to the staff at The Ivy yesterday for getting everyone out safe."
The blaze was confined to The Ivy's terrace area, allowing the restaurant to reopen its doors the very next night after being given the go ahead by fire chiefs.
A statement read: "The fire was contained in one section of The Roof Garden thanks to the excellent work of the Greater Manchester Fire Services who have informed us that the building is now totally safe to occupy."

Last year, Simon began training to become a professional ghost hunter.
It was revealed last year that the Simon had booked time off from his day job to train after appearing on Celebrity Haunted Mansion earlier this year.
He told the : “I got so into it that I’ve booked on some haunted course to go investigating.
“I’m also going on a trip to stay at the haunted mansion again – I must be mad.”
