Shock as mum of UK’s biggest family fell pregnant at 13 – when partner was 18
THE mum to Britain’s biggest family revealed she first fell pregnant when she was THIRTEEN – and her partner was an 18-year-old man.
Sue Radford, now 43, shocked viewers last night with the revelation on TV show 21 Kids and Counting.
It followed her journey through pregnancy as she gave birth to her 21st nipper – Bonnie Raye.
But it was the story of her first that caught most viewers’ attention.
Sue conceived eldest, Sophie, when she was a schoolgirl, and now husband Noel was a legal adult, five years her senior.
A stunned viewer tweeted: “They are lovely kids but I can’t help but feel a bit weird about the fact when he was 18 he got a 13 year old pregnant #21kidsandcounting.”
Another added: “Everyone commenting on what a lovely family they are, how old does a guy have to be before getting a 13 year old girl pregnant is creepy at best, irrespective of whether they get married and stay together?”
A particularly disgusted fan wrote: “I can’t get over the fact that an 18 year old got a 13 year old girl pregnant I mean that’s a crime!”
At the end of the episode, Sue said she gave birth to the lastest bundle of joy after just 12 minutes in labour.
Last month, Sue revealed the epic scale of her family Christmas.
The Radfords spend between £100 and £250 on presents for each of the 21 children at Christmas – working out at a total of £5,250.
Their family shot to fame on the Channel 4 documentary 15 Kids and Counting in 2012.
Newest arrival Bonnie Raye tipped the scales at 8lb 4oz when she arrived last month at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, where midwives have delivered 14 of the Radfords’ children.
The couple, who support themselves with their bakery and claim only child benefit, say they don’t want anymore – saying they are looking forward to grandkids.
Noel inisted: “I think we just loving having the kids and having a big family and welcoming a newborn into our lives. Not addicted but if it is an addiction we are giving it up.”
The family also run a YouTube channel which has racked up over 800,000 views.
Previously, Channel 4 viewers left questioning whether Britain’s biggest family are secret millionaires after they took all 20 of their kids on holiday to Florida.
