EastEnders’ Ray Kelly is ‘Steve Owen back from the dead’ in plot twist – and Tamzin Outhwaite hinted at it a YEAR ago, according to fan theory
EASTENDERS' Ray Kelly is actually Steve Owen back from the dead, a Walford mastermind has claimed - and the evidence DOES appear to add up.
An Albert Square super fan fan reckons Steve survived the car explosion we all thought killed him 16 years ago and has returned, after facial reconstruction surgery, for revenge.
Sharing a BBC picture of Steve, played by Martin Kemp and Ray, played by Sean Mahon, viewer Jason wrote: "Look at the resemblance!
"Also look at Ray’s nose as well, that’s 100% meant to be a rhinoplasty... and also the fact Ray has a mysterious scar on his leg and how much he dotes over Mel’s son, sorry but I’m convinced!"
And that's not all. Hunter, who is Steve Owen's son, is heard shouting: "No, no, Dad, please" in the trailer for the New Year episode.
That tallies neatly with what Tamzin Outhwaite told The Sun as she returned to Walford as Melanie with Hunter last year.
Speaking about her former screen husband, she admitted: "I do think he could have got out in that three seconds and rolled underneath the car."
One fan who studied the theory gasped: "This is wild."
Mel's former husband Ray arrived at the club with perfect timing this year - just as she was about to reply to Jack Branning's marriage proposal.
We also know he's a shadowy figure who has gone by the names Simon Wright, Jimmy O'Neil, Conor Flannery and Paddy Rose, as listeners to the EastEnders podcast discovered.

However, if the theory turns out to be true, we may soon be adding another name to that list: Steve Owen.
Though it might be rather harder to explain why Steve now has a heavy Irish accent.
Either way, we might not have long to find out, with a dramatic hour-long episode of EastEnders airing tomorrow night at 8pm on BBC1.
