Kevin Clifton and Louise Redknapp’s reunion in Grimsby was set up by his mum

LOUISE Redknapp has revealed it was Kevin Clifton's parents who invited her up for their annual Christmas ball in their Grimsby.

The Eternal star - who was Kevin's Strictly partner back in 2016 - admitted Judy and Keith told her to come up with the dancer when she saw them during the summer.

The 44-year-old singer made the 220-mile journey from her home near London to the coastal town for the night out with 36-year-old Kevin after he won Strictly with Stacey Dooley on Saturday - quickly sparking romance rumours.

However Louise set the record straight on the night, telling Grimsby Live: "It was Kev’s mum and dad who asked me to come when I last saw them in the summer."

Kevin revealed that Louise was supposed to make the trip with him in 2016 but was unable to.

Last year he performed at the event with Strictly partner Susan Calman.

However Eternal singer Louise was modest about her dancefloor ability, admitting she had only practised for four hours before the main event.

She quipped: "We went back in the training room and have had four hours of training to get ready!

"I haven’t danced since Strictly – I have done gigs and stuff but that’s not the same, so I can only apologise for how I’ll be tonight!"

News site  later quoted one onlooker as saying Louise "looked very much part of the family" as they performed three dances together.

They have never confirmed any romance between them but over the past year the pair have been spotted together on several occasions.
