EASTENDERS’ Alfie Moon will be left for dead after a Christmas Day bust-up with estranged wife Kat.
She angrily confronts him after learning he has fathered a love child.
The hour-long episode, starting at 9.15pm, ends with Alfie seemingly taking his last breath.
A source on the BBC1 show said: “It will all kick off big-time. Kat will confront him about the baby before all hell breaks loose. The scenes will leave him for dead.
“Alfie is a huge character and this is going to be classic EastEnders drama.” The cliffhanger will leave viewers guessing his fate.
Shane Richie, 54 — who plays loveable rogue Alfie — is leaving to play a drag queen for four months in musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.
The showdown will be his last Albert Square scene for the foreseeable future — and possibly for ever.
This week Shane said teasingly of Alfie’s fate: “Only on Christmas Day could this happen.
“Why anyone would want to live in Walford, I have no idea.
