Megan McKenna tops country charts with debut album Story Of Me – knocking Dolly Parton off Number One spot
The reality TV star has hit the Number One spot on the iTunes country music chart
MEGAN McKenna has topped the iTunes country charts with her debut album, Story Of Me.
The 26-year-old former Towie star knocked music icon Dolly Parton off the top spot.
Since releasing the album, Megan has received huge praise for her debut offering and has been given support from her good pal Olly Murs.
An insider said of Megan’s achievement: “It's a huge success and she's really happy to be top of the charts.
“It's a dream come true as a country artist.”
Speaking to The Sun Online, Megan revealed she’d teamed up with one of Ed Sheeran’s songwriters on the album.
Comparing her collection of songs to a “deeply personal diary”, Megan said: I completely opened up and said how I was feeling.
“Getting it all off your chest is the best feeling.5972201751001
“The vibe of the album is me as a person, an all-rounder, not just about relationships.
“This is my time to show my side of feelings and emotions... but it’s definitely not a slagging match, it’s very personal.
“People normally see me on screen either in an argument, falling out with someone, or in a breakup.
“I really wanted people to step into my life without all of that, all of the editing.”
Megan, who will appear on the next series of Celebs Go Dating, spent the past 12 months focusing on releasing her album.
She added: “I will never stop doing TV but I want to film positive things now.
“I prefer to put all my energy into music, not negative people that want to have arguments.
“Country music is all about telling your story, and I've definitely grown up and I can control my anger better.
“I'm 26 now, I had just turned 23 when I first went on TV.”
