Christopher Biggins calls Celebrity Big Brother axe the worst moment of his career but insists he’s finally bounced back

He said being pulled off the show for making a joke about concentration camps was his 'only lowlight' - but added: 'I soon got over it'

CHRISTOPHER Biggins has described the moment he was thrown out of Celebrity Big Brother for making a joke about concentration camps as the worst of his career.

The 69-year-old told Jewish X Factor star Katie Waissel in 2016: "You better be careful or they’ll be putting you in a shower and taking you to a room.”

His offensive remarks were never shown on the Channel 5 show, but Biggins was swiftly removed, with his rumoured £100,000 fee slashed.

Now, the star has spoken out about the controversial time in his life to .

He said: "I’ve had a fantastic ­career. The only ­lowlight was when I was evicted from Celebrity Big Brother."

However, he added: "But I soon got over that and I’m now much more contented and happy than ever.”

Biggins apologised at the time, saying: "I love Jewish people. Listen, my best friend is Lesley Joseph. You can’t get much more Jewish than that.”

However, it was far from the only controversial remark the veteran actor made on Celebrity Big Brother that year.

He also sparked enormous controversy by telling Mob Wives star Renee Grazinano: “I think the worst type though, I’m afraid to say, the bisexuals."

Now Biggins has hit out at reality shows, saying the people on them don't deserve to be celebrities.

He said: "They should be called something else. They are just famous for five minutes.

“Showbiz has changed in a bad way. I feel I’ve seen the best. I’ve had an amazing life and I’ve loved everything I’ve done.”

The panto favourite also opened up about the loss of his close friend Cilla Black, saying he is still haunted by her death.

He admitted: “I still miss her. If I hear ­something I know she will like, I still go to pick up the phone to call her. We were so close.”
