How old is Mick Hucknall? What's his background?

Mick Hucknall, 58, is a British musician from Manchester.

His father Reginald worked as a barber in Stockport.

Mick's mother abandoned the family when he was three years old which inspired the 1985 Simply Red hit Holding Back The Years.

In the mid 90s he reconnected with his mother Maureen who was living in Dallas at the time.

Mick's first band was the The Frantic Elevators before he founded Simply Red in 1985.

The band's name refers to Mick's nickname Red (owing to his ginger hair) as well as his support the football club Manchester United.

The initial line up included Mick on lead vocals, David Fryman on guitar, Tony Bowers on bass, Fritz McIntyre on keyboards, Tim Kellett on brass and Chris Joyce on drums.

The band had several hit singles including If You Don't Know Me By Now, Fairground, It's Only Love, Stars and Angel.

Is Mick Hucknall married?

Mick has been married to Gabriella Wesberry since 2010.

They tied the knot at Forter Castle in Perthshire, Scotland.

The couple have a daughter Romy True, who was born in 2007.

When was the new Simply Red album released?

On November 23, Simply Red released their live album Symphonica In Rosso.

It features recordings of songs performed at Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam with the accompaniment of a 40-piece orchestra.

The CD and DVD is now available to buy.
