Kym Marsh to be a grandma at 42 as her daughter Emilie, 21, announces she’s pregnant with boyfriend of six months
KYM Marsh is set to become a grandmother after her daughter Emilie announces she is pregnant with her first child.
The Coronation Street actress, 42, discovered she herself was pregnant at the age of 18 with her son David, and she gave birth to Emilie when she was 21.
And the former pop star can’t wait to welcome the new addition to their family when Emilie becomes a mother.
Kym told “I’m looking forward to being a young grandmother.
“We’ve both had time to get our heads around it and now we’re over the moon. It makes me feel so emotional that my baby is having a baby of her own.”
Emilie is expecting with her boyfriend of six months, who she has in fact known for years, but he prefers to stay out of the spotlight.
And she says she was too nervous at first to tell her famous mum their happy news, explaining: “I keep thinking, am I really going to be able to do this?
“For ages I couldn’t actually get the words ‘I’m pregnant’ out of my mouth because I didn’t know how people would react – I even made Mum tell my dad! Luckily I have the most supportive parents in the world and they’re both really excited.”
Kym added: “'I know what it's like to be young and pregnant - it's scary, but Emilie will be a great mum.
Soap star Kym added that being a young mum seems to happen often in her family, with her mum being 18 when she had her brother, and Kym's sister was 18 when she fell pregnant, just like Kym.
And Kym has told Emilie that, whilst her life will change dramatically after she gives birth, there are benefits to giving birth at a younger age.
She said: “Me, Emilie and David are best friends and I think that’s because there isn’t a huge age gap between us.”

Emilie said she was physically shaking with nerves when she did the pregnancy test and cried her eyes out when she discovered the result was positive but was glad to have her former Hear’Say star mum’s support.
And she’s glad she has her boyfriend standing by her throughout her pregnancy and that they’ll be raising their child together.
She said: “He’s a lovely guy, really supportive and he’s really excited about the baby arriving. I’m really lucky to have him.”
