MEL B broke down in tears when she auditioned three actresses to read her audiobook Brutally Honest in front of her.
The Spice Girls invited the trio to perform a segment from her tell-all book in front of her and her friend, Anna, to help her whittle down the one successful candidate who will speak the entire text, which will be available on Audible.
The 43-year-old singer decided she wanted someone else to tell her story because of her dyslexia but also because she believes it will be 'too painful' for her to relive.
She said: "I don't want it to sound like someone's reading or someone's acting."
Mel went on to explain: "I can't do it it's too painful for me."
She was deeply moved throughout the three auditions, but one performance in particular affected her more so than the others as she was reduced to tears during the interview stage.
Mel admitted to one actress: "You made me cry", while her pal had 'goosebumps' during the retelling.
She praised each actresses' audition, but wanted to talk to each contender one on one to help her come to her final decision.
The singer - who is also known as Scary Spice in the girl group - explained: "But they are all good on different levels.
"So I think the best thing for me to do is meet them outside this audition process."
When asked why each hopeful wanted to audition for the role, one star's honesty touched Mel.
The star answered: "I think it'll resonate with women so deeply. I think it'll be a breath of fresh air for so many people. "
Mel - who has daughters Madison, Angel and Phoenix from three separate relationships - decided on the second contestant Zaraah Abrahams, who has appeared in other soaps including Waterloo Road, because she felt the actress truly 'embodied' her story, which addresses her previous relationships with exes Eddie Murphy and Stephen Belafonte, as well as her suicide attempt.
When Mel delivered the goodnews to Zaraah Abrahams, she said: "I wanted to tell you a few things.
"You made me cry, you know that, and the fact you cried made me cry even more, because I know that you actually embodied my story.
"It is very important that you know I want you be the voice of my book. The whole entire book."

The successful candidate was overwhelmed by the news and couldn't believe the former The X Factor judge was trusted to take on the full project.
She said: "Really you're actually going to trust me to do it now?"
Mel replied: "I'm scared to do it, that's why I can't do it. You captured every single emotion."
