X Factor bosses fear Cheryl’s dance routine to comeback track Love Made Me Do It could be ‘too sexy for viewers’
CHERYL TWEEDY makes her first stage performance in four years on Sunday night’s X Factor and she is pulling out all the stops to make sure it’s her sexiest one yet.
But her planned dance routine has caused panic, with show bosses scared it could be too X-rated for the family programme.
In 2010, Ofcom received almost 3,000 complaints after Rihanna and Christina Aguilera gave raunchy performances, gyrating alongside scantily clad dancers.
Now senior staff at ITV are anxious history could repeat itself when Cheryl performs her single Love Made Me Do It, flanked by 12 hunky blokes.
An X Factor insider said: “Cheryl wants this performance to be remembered and it will be.
“She has been in rehearsals for the last few days and the routine will see her writhing around on the ground with 12 hot men dancing around her.
“But ITV knows it’s vital it remains PG, given what happened with Rihanna and Christina.
“At one point there were fears the male dancers may even have their bums showing but now it seems they will be more covered up. No one has told Cheryl what to do, but they’ve been keeping a close eye on the creative team so the routine is suitable for a family audience.”
Her comeback tune went to No19 on Friday after a week on sale and it’s hoped tonight’s spectacle will help push it even further up the charts.
It will be a relief for Cheryl that it has got off to a strong start, because she admitted she would have given up on music if it had flopped.
She said: “If it goes in at 80, it’s time for me to move on with my life.
“I’m not going to jump around working hard and spending time away from my son for that.”
She has a few more tunes in her yet.
'My worst fashion disaster'
CHERYL’S short-lived judging stint on X Factor USA will long be remembered for this awful outfit.
But finally admitting her epic wardrobe catastrophe, the singer has said she wasn’t thinking straight due to turmoil in her personal life.
She said: “Orange and purple . . . I was not mentally well then.
"I’d been in hospital in the July with malaria. I’d just suffered the breakdown of my marriage, and by the time I got to America . . .
“On reflection, I shouldn’t have been there. I was struggling inside.
“I felt like the weight of the world was on my shoulders, and I couldn’t place why.
“The bottom line now is this: If I’m not happy with something, and I’m not comfortable, I’m not doing it.”
That’s a decent philosophy for anyone to live by.
GC's got ice figure
TRAINING for Dancing On Ice has done wonders for Gemma Collins’ waistline – but it’s wasting away that she’s worried about.
The Towie veteran has put in hours of work ahead of January’s launch.
She said: “I’ve lost a dress size.
“I’m exercising every day, it’s become routine and I have to put myself in bed early every night to get up and get out of bed.
"It’s really good – tiring mentally and physically. I don’t finish the show until March so there’ll be nothing of me by then. I’ll be wasting away.”
Gemma, who has even started doing yoga, albeit for an Argos campaign, added: “Because I’m training every day for two hours, I have breakfast and lunch, but because I’m going to bed early I’m not bothering with dinner.
“I’d like to get to size 16.”
A fitness DVD can’t be far off.
Celeb fans go wild
BRILLIANT singer Alice Chater already has plenty of showbiz fans.
Following the release of her single Hourglass, she sang at London’s Thousand Islands on Thursday where pal Naughty Boy was in the crowd.
She also got flowers from Richard Madden’s actress girlfriend Ellie Bamber after the concert and has been tapped up to feature on Professor Green’s next album.
She said on stage: “It took many years so I’m very thankful that I’m here right now and I have a sold out show."
Sty's the limit for Wossy's porkers
JONATHAN ROSS has shelled out £20,000 on luxury digs for his pet pigs.
The telly host dug deep for a high-end crib for his Vietnamese pot-bellied porkers.
And there’s a reason the centrally-heated, two-storey sty was so pricey – it comes with decorative flowerbeds, working lanterns and its own electricity supply.
It is even fitted with surround sound, so the porkers can listen to their favourite pop stars, like Rita Oinka or Fall Snout Boy.
And it links to a fenced-in area within the garden of his North London home, for the pigs to roam around in.
A source said: “Jonathan treats his animals like members of his family so he only wanted the best for his pigs.
"Now they have their own seriously spacious quarters.”
Over the years, his pets have included pythons, iguanas, sheep, fish and ferrets.
Jonathan admitted he needed an “unusual area to house the pigs that are marauding around my garden destroying everything”.
After the creation was completed, a delighted Wossy said: “It’s cute without looking twee, spacious without taking up too much room – it’s the Taj Mahal of pig residences.”
To afford all that, Jonathan must really be bringing home the bacon.
Kim K's shining example
KIM KARDASHIAN must think she looks out of this world after deciding to dress in this space-age outfit for a ball in West Hollywood.
While most people would get glammed up in a gown, Kim wore skin-tight silver leggings to the Sweet Dreams gala, with big sister Kourtney going for an equally casual look on Friday night.
Kim’s husband Kanye West was doing his bit to help fellow Americans yesterday though, revealing all the US profits from his new designer jogging bottoms would be going to charities to help those affected by the wild fires.
The decision comes after Kanye said he was delaying his new album Yandhi indefinitely, having originally said it would be released in September.
Given some of the weird things he’s been coming out with lately, it’s probably for the best.
Calvin's news
CALVIN HARRIS and his girlfriend have taken their relationship to the next level by welcoming a little one.
But model Aarika Wolf hasn’t had a baby – they’ve bought a pet.
A source said of the DJ: “He and Aarika are really close.
“They recently proved they are taking their romance seriously by getting a kitten together, which they called Gregg.
Aarika has been living in his LA house for almost a year and he took her to Ibiza when he was DJing there in the summer.
“They recently dressed up as Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth for Halloween. They have a real laugh together.”
Maybe there’s another royal wedding in the offing.
JESSIE J looks s-smokin . . . but mainly because she appears to be dressed as the female equivalent of Jim Carrey’s The Mask.
The singer wore a wide-brimmed hat and high-waisted trousers, just like the Nineties film character at her gig at Manchester Academy on Friday, although she did seem to have forgotten the shirt and tie to complete the look.
But she might be pleased, at least, with being compared to someone new, after weeks of people pointing out her similarities to new fella Channing Tatum’s estranged wife, actress Jenna Dewan.
Following the comparisons, Jessie ranted on Instagram: “I am a woman that supports ALL women.
"I am a woman that loves ALL women. We are enough just the way we are.”
In response, Jenna wrote: “Amen Jessie! Women for women all the way. Nothing but respect.”
That should be a relief for Channing.
Pop Idol
GARETH GATES has confirmed he is back with his girlfriend Faye Brookes – two months after their shock split.
The Pop Idol runner-up switched on the Christmas lights in Altrincham, Greater Manchester, last night and dedicated his performance of Ed Sheeran's Perfect to the Coronation Street actress.
Faye, who pulled out of this year’s I’m A Celebrity to give things with Gareth another go, was moved to tears by the gesture.
Ahh, romance isn’t dead after all
Too scared to mess with Mix
LITTLE MIX have an interesting explanation as to why they haven’t become victims of #MeToo style harassment.
Jesy Nelson said: “They’re too scared. Men are intimidated by us.
We exude so much power, nobody would even try it.”
She and her bandmates – Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirwall and Perrie Edwards – released their latest album LM5 on Friday, but they don’t think they would have made it so far as solo stars.
Jesy said: “We were lucky to be in a group.
"If we’d gone through all of that on our own we would be f****d.
"I get why people start self-harming. There’s so much pressure.”
Bank on Cara
FROM model to actress and now property magnate, Cara Delevingne knows how to rake in the cash.
She has built up a portfolio of houses worth £43million with her dad Charles and their company, Harvey White Properties, made almost £5.5million profit last year.
That’s on top of what she earns from her day job, which will shortly see her filming thriller Fever Heart with Alexander Skarsgard.
Last year she was understood to have made £8million through her various deals with Chanel, Puma and make-up brand Rimmell.
This year she has also been working with TAG Heuer, VW and Burberry.
That should be enough to buy a few more estates.
