Jungle Down Under

I’m a Celebrity is filmed in Australia at Springbrook National Park in Murwillumbah, New South Wales.

The ITV camp, where the celebrities sleep, eat and hang out when they're not doing the trials, can be found in Dungay Creek.

The entrance to this filming location is a large area of buildings including on-site medical facilities, containers for the storage of props, and other backstage cabins for the crew to hang out.

The families and friends of the campmates are housed here each morning when the evictions begin.

A Jungle roof

Fans were shocked to discover that the Jungle is actually covered by an artificial canopy.

Alison Hammond broke the news on The Saving Grace Podcast, which is hosted by 2024 campmate GK Barry.

She said:“There’s trees everywhere and also they’ve got this canopy for lighting.

"You feel like you’re on a camping film set but you can’t see the cameras.”

The TV presenter added that the canopy makes it impossible to sunbathe.

However, much of the camp is not covered by the roof which can mean that the campmates are left soaked by storms.

Ant and Dec's jungle studio

A restricted access road climbs to the site of the studios, where Ant and Dec host the show.

The iconic platform and bridge where the duo describe what's to come in the programme can also be found here.

The first series was filmed near Cairns in Queensland, but the production moved to Murwillumbah for the second series in 2003.

Visiting the jungle

Viewers are not able to visit the camp that their favourite celebrities live in on the show.

However there is a dedicated campsite, The Settlement, that you can stay at to live out your I'm a Celebrity dreams.

This means you can stay at Springbrook National Park, just not in the area that they see on TV.

Welsh castle

Up until 2020, I'm a Celebrity had always been filmed in the Aussie jungle.

However, due to the pandemic, ITV were unable to travel to Australia to film the show.

The TV execs decided to swap the usual jungle campsite for Gwrych Castle.

The 200-year-old Welsh fortress was the perfect creepy backdrop for the celebrities, and the conditions were just as tough as they were Down Under.

Due to continued travel-restrictions the following year, I'm a Celebrity 2021 was also filmed at the castle.
